*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Oooo, did you get free games for your PS3? When they released the 80GB they had a price cut and added rumble didn't they?

Those were amusing times... Sony claiming "rumble isn't necessary, doesn't add anything" and then quickly backtracked! :o

Actually didn't they claim rumble wasn't possible with the motion tracking? Then Nintendo went and did it and they hushed up and 'magically' made it possible :D

I’ve still got my first playstation 3 pad before they became the DS3, the one without rumble.

I sold mine. Imported a white DS3 from Japan via eBay as soon as they were released there, think they took another couple of months to hit the UK and took ages for white ones to finally reach here.

£269? I don't think so.

I didn't say £269, that's just he direct $ >> £ + VAT conversion. Which everyone knows never happens.

Why do people think the XBone will be more expensive? Because of the Kinect in every box? I'm pretty sure they've factored that into their costs.

The PS4 sounds like the more expensive device at this point.

lord no. i reckon higher. 350+ me thinks. that goes for both

http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/31594-xbox-one-more-expensive-than-ps4?

Webush analyst Michel Pachter claims in his pre-E3 research note that he believes the PS4 will launch at $349, while the Xbox One will be $50 more expensive at $399.

The biggest reason for the difference in price is believed to be the bill of materials. The PS4 is believed to be coming in around $275, but the Xbox One is coming in close to $325. The cost of the new Kinect is said to be driving the price higher in the Xbox One.

Spades of salt to be used however.

Dualshock 4 in action

Showing of new features like the light bar and touchpad, the game is Tiny Brains.

The lights feature seems pointless to me and it is worrying how excited the 2nd person off camera is getting when the lights change colour!!

What is the speaker/vent thing below the touchpad for btw?

No-one cares about what happened 5 years ago. Move on. This thread is about PS4. You seem to be going out of your way to cause problems/arguements in this thread. Any particular reason?

The lights are to indicate which player you are (like the current DS3) but can also be used by the Move camera.

The speaker on the controller will be used like the Wii one I guess. Hopefully it's like a decent phone speaker rather than a small tinny one. I have 5.1 though, I don't really see the need for sounds coming out of my controller.

Rhetorical question, right? :p

The lights are a more basic version of what Kinect is doing (very simply)... so features like automatically detecting player position and what controller is who's are quite useful.

The speaker is just that. Much like a Wii-mote. If they just use it like Nintendo do, it'll make low rent noises when you swing your sword etc that will be drowned out by surround sound anyway.

I didn't realise the summer holidays had started ;)

LOL. Everyone has an opinion on the pad, and it is valid.

One thing no one can argue is that this pad design (over PS1/2/3) has been the most successful ever, sales wise. It's not bad enough to stop the vast, vast majority using the console everyday.

At the end of the day it's a forum of techies/gamers who will argue and nit pick small points. The vast majority of console buyers do not care about the controller as long as it is functional. They care about games.

Ah I see, I didn't realise they had done away with the 4 little red lights. I think I prefer them to be honest, these big multi coloured ones seem much more distracting.

Speaker will probably be crap!

The point is that every single argument just sounds like he's crying over nothing.

"Waaah the buttons that I hardly ever have to press are made of rubber" for example.

Explain to me how the hell from a gameplay perspective having a rubber start button actually matters?

"Waaah the sticks are in the wrong place"

Explain to me why I can use the DS3 pad and the 360 pad both without problems?

"Waaah when I twist the controller it creaks"

Explain to me why anyone would need to twist the controller? Does it have a function that requires that you twist it?

"Waaah the controller is too flimsy"

Don't throw it at the wall when you rage then. I'v only known a couple of people ever break a playstation controller and that's because they had a fit of rage and wanted to break it either by snapping it in half or by stamping on it/throwing it at the wall. It's like saying your camera ****ed you off because you forgot to turn the flash on, so you threw it on the floor, and now are surprised that it's broken.

I can accept valid arguments like the triggers being poor, which is fair enough, most of the arguments people come up with regarding the controller are total rubbish.

Those buttons feel squishy and flimsy when pressed. I press them to use the controller. They would feel better if they were solid like the rest of the buttons.

Oh look, Sony have now removed them for solid buttons. They must have agreed.

The sticks should not be stuck on the bottom of the controller as an after thought. They were put there as a bodge to add analogue control to the original PS controller (hence the "analogue" button it used to have!). Ergonomically, the left stick is more comfortable higher up.

The build quality is lacking. People don't like flimsy feeling products.

Examples being, Galaxy S4 plastic back, better/heavier build quality of premium manufacturer car doors.

They're all perfectly valid points.

grimm, it's a matter of opinion. Stop moaning because someone doesn't agree with you.

If you actually bothered to read my post, you'd notice that I'm not moaning because someone doesn't agree with me, I'm moaning because someone else is moaning about nothing.

Do you complain because the buttons on your TV remote are made out of rubber also? Does that affect your choice of TV? :p

So saying someone's opinion is 'nothing' and 'total rubbish' is acting like a mature adult and respecting others opinions? (look, I can quote you, I did read your posts) i don't think so. You've come in, seen somebody post something you disagree with and done the standard internet guy thing of being obnoxious instead of discussing it or ignoring it.
