*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Just setup my ps4. What's the general consensus with setting the RGB to full or limited, read loads of conflicting arguments. I am using a Panny GT30 if anyone can shed light on the matter. Also any other settings I should be aware of as I am setting it up for the first.

Don't think it really matters due to games producers not taking advantage of the settings, I would turn the screen into Game mode to get the best out of it as it turns of any processing it doesnt need.

I don't think it makes any difference as long as the TV is set correctly, full is there for monitor users.

AFAIK it will just resample 16-235 to 0-255 when full is selected. I can't imagine it's the reverse (and games are native 0-255) when their target audience are all TV owners.

IIRC you should match your TV settings and PS4 settings for RGB - if you dont have that setting assume it can only display RGB Limited so set the PS4 to that...

Going to sound like right n00b but how would I set the TV for RGB? can't remember seeing such a setting on the Panasonic, might have missed it but if anyone knows let me know.

Check your TV manual - or better yet have a look at the owners thread on AVForums, no doubt if it supports it and how its enabled theyll be best placed to advise.

RGB Full range HDMI is the option you should look out for I believe - though tbh spend some time getting your TV set up properly wont do any harm at all...

When I got the TV first thing I did was go on AVforums owners thread to check out settings & tips etc, I've set everything to the best I can after so many hours of use but like I said can't remember seeing a particular setting for HDMI... will put my Sherlock Holmes hat on to investigate further

Hmmm not found a decent answer myself - I need to correct myself as that option highlighted is from the PS3/4 and not the GT30 - sorry. It should be a very similar worded option though...

I suspect it doesnt support RGB Full so Id leave it on Limited. If you do stick it up on Full and it isnt supported theres a good chance youll see crushing blacks/blown whites as the PS4 attempts to use the Full RGB scale while your TV can only display a truncated one.

Just skim read the manual very quickly but still no mention, think I'll do what you mentioned and stick it to limited until I get definite answer, thanks for suggestions mate. I guess I am not missing out on super-duper graphics by setting it to limited

Lolly lol both the original controllers that came with the Ps4 have been replaced now due to the rubber on the left stick flaking. No issues with a straight swap at Game though today.

Which batch of the PS4s are having issues with the rubber flaking off, initial releases or more recent batches? I've just got mine so if this crops up what's the best protocol? Go to retailer or Sony?

Is there a release date on the new headphones that are coming? Anyone getting a pair? I'm tempted to get a set

The left thumb stuck on my PS4 is really starting to peel away now. How do you get these returned and how long do you have to wait without a pad?

yup apparantly due tomorrow but no sign here at any UK retailor yet.

I think it will be under HDMI settings in the options menu, on mine it defaults to Auto and you can choose Normal or Full manually.
