*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Yeah I am enjoying Outlast. It's a little scary in places but the only games that have given me a real scare have been RE and F.E.A.R. There was something about the atmosphere in those games that haven't been recreated since. I'm looking forward to that other horrow movie with the chainsaw guy at the start (can't remember the name AGAIN!).

Yeah, the 1st F.E.A.R game was amazing. They done everything perfect, the sequels didn't stand a chance.

Agree. The games are random, you should have known that. Don't spend "40 notes" if you don't know what you are getting. Its not like a random game is all you are getting either. Its one months game that you are not interested in, theres another 11. Stop whining.

Exactly, in the next couple months we will have Drive club, plus what ever else goes free, i will try them all as some games don't interest me until i try.

"The Evil Within" is what I'm thinking of.

Well I had a good day today. First up, got the 1cc trophy on resogun, solo, which nabbed me my first ever platinum. :) Then I continued with outlast and finished that. Then deleted it, I'm not going there again. Fantastic game, horrible place to be. PS+ is awesome :)

Once again you are completely wrong... SURPRISE!

You stated stress was added because of the laser and HDD head orientation, which I corrected.

Those articles focus on stability (it physically falling over) and airflow, neither of which I commented on.

Unlike you, I don't comment on things pretending to be this all knowing guru if I'm ignorant of the facts.

Just think about the laws of gravity when placing the disc. You put less stress to the disc drive when placed horizontally opposed to the vertical position.

I'm sure Sonys engineers forgot about the laws of gravity. Why wouldn't you? You can't see it.

Wrong again, but it's pointless correcting you as you'll never learn. I'm just going to leave you to live in you own little dream world.

So this thread has evolved from the official PS4 rubber thumbsticks deterioration thread, to the official PS4 gravity discussion! :p I must say though, regardless of any stress it may or may not cause, I'm sure Sony would replace a PS4/game if it did get damaged from standing the console up, seeing as they released an official vertical stand!

Otherwise they would have taken the Microsoft route of saying 'do it at your own risk'.

Oh and chuck in the odd troll complaining about their lack of knowledge of how PS plus works and what games are actually available on PS4 :)

And Robin Sinha of the International Business Times (Indian Edition) is an expert in the field of how gravity interacts with the centrifugal forces of a spinning plastic disc inside a plastic box, is he? The quality of the writing in his article leads me to think otherwise.

Come on, I know you like to be pedantic and abrasive at times when making your point, but there's no point to make here. The console is designed to stand vertically, there's no harm in doing it. People have been standing their PS2s and PS3s vertically for years. Even if it does run a bit warmer, it'll be a couple of degrees which means very little.

The laws of gravity apply to the disc in any orientation it's always the same. What you need to work out is Gyroscopic forces but you are all forgetting one key thing here.

The PS4 installs all the game to the HDD so apart from a very small disc check the optical drive is not spinning when gaming so orientation really does not matter. Hard drives have been placed in every orientation for years with no ill effects so you are worrying about nothing. So apart from installing the game the disc is not being spun.

Just stick it which ever way you please and enjoy the damn games.... !!
