*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Having completed uncharted 1-3 and nearly done the last of us. Now i want gta5 but its still 40 quid on amazon, for a three year old game thats odd isn't it?

For most games, yes. But some games remain popular enough that the publisher doesn't need to lower the price to keep the sales coming in.

I've seen it go lower than £40 on Amazon though. I'd hold off till its nearer the £30 mark.

Guys - I've just setup my new PS4 and have a couple of questions.
First one, and I feel silly for asking it and I'm sure I should know what you'll say.
Audio output is set to HDMI and then I've got the choice of Bitstream (DTS) and Bitstream (Dolby).
I have an Onkyo receiver and all is supported. Which is the "better" option?

Both my wife and I have our own PSN accounts. Under the PS3 mine was the master account and I believe my wife had a sub-account.
On the PS4 I'm all signed up and my wife also has a master account.
Are Playstation Plus subscriptions console or account based?
So with both myself and my wife having a "master" account on the PS4, for us both to benefit from Playstation Plus we'd need two subscriptions, or would a single one cover us both?
If my wife was reverted to being a sub-account again, would that answer change? I know, sounds like I'm being cheap, but I play a lot more than my wife, so it would be great if she could benefit, but wouldn't need a separate subscription.

Cheers all.

Not 100% but if your wife signs onto your machine (with you signed into master account) under a sub account you should be able to use another machine with ps+ and on the other machine I'm sure it's vice versa

as in your wife main and you sub account

confused myself here :D

You should have a Linear PCM option too, use that.

In Layman's terms - with each of the 3 options - Bitstream (DTS), Bitstream (Dolby), Linear PCM what is the PS4 outputting and why is any one better than the other?
I'm honestly really interested - cheers.

Thanks for that - I was looking for a page similar to that one.
So actually, looks like my wife would have access to the majority of the features she'd probably want - online multiplayer, access to purchased games and access to the monthly plus games.

When it says about "subscriber signing out". Effectively I'd need to log in and then we'd "switch user" to my wife's account as then mine remains logged in and she retails all the features....I think.

Anyway, thanks again.

Bitstream is compressed LPCM is higher bit rate and should sound better. It all depends on your setup. Try them all and see which sounds best for you. Both are multi channel.

Console-based. When you log into your console via PSN, it will ask whether you want to make it your primary console. This will enable all the features like streaming to other devices and such. I have PSPlus and my brother doesn't. He can play all the PSPlus games I've downloaded with no issues. I'd assume online multiplayer still works, the only multiplayer game that's run on it so far was MGS5. But my brother completed that before making/connecting his PSN account, so I've personally not seen it work yet.

I've got no clue when it comes to splitscreen/local online, since the PS4 has almost no games like that. But if I remember correctly, back on the XB360, both users had to have XBL if playing splitscreen, unless player 2 plays as a guest of player 1.

Quick question - where would one find the serial number on a P4? I like to keep track of serial numbers of devices in case of theft, that kind of thing.
Read online about a number beginning MB but I've got nothing like that printed anywhere.
On the bottom of the PS4 I have an 18 character number starting 02-274

On the packing I have 3 numbers

CUH-121.. ....
P-274...... - .
S01-21..... - .

Are any of these actually likely to be the serial number?
