*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Right, I've got no job at the moment so in between job hunting I need a new game to keep me going. I'm currently trying to complete Doom single player, and after that I have arkham knight to play but afterwards I am deliberating between fallout 4, titanfall 2, skyrim remastered, or the expansion packs for the witcher 3. I want a really good single player game to immerse myself in. Any recommendations out of those?

Fallout is the best game out of the selection there imo.

From my POV;

Skyrim - Already played it to death, still prefer Fallout 4.
Titanfall 2 - Didn't like the first, no interest in playing COD with jet packs
Witcher 3 - Very good, but got bored after 15-20 hours. Possible that the scale was just too much, the game is huge.

I started playing Fallout 4 a few weeks ago, is a really good game, I didn't get on with 3 but this great. Hardly made a dent in it but keen to keep exploring.

You can pick it up for about twenty quid which is bargain for the amount of game you get, there's a rather well known online shop doing it with a franchise book (history of Fallout) and soundtrack for £22.

Considering I also had a tough time job hunting last year, the games that kept me sane for a while included Metal Gear Solid 5 (spent a couple hundred hours in that) and some other games that aren't on PS4.

My best recommendation for a game you can really get your teeth into and spend a lot of time on is Bloodborne. I have it and unfortunately it's not the best thing for someone like me who doesn't have much time to play (currently have a job and just got promoted to a permanent position). But I have heard, it is at it's best when you have the time to dedicate to it.

So get Bloodborne GOTY edition (includes all DLC) for a massive timesink. Alternatively grab MGS5 and I will say that Skyrim isn't such a bad shout if it's been a long time since you last played or haven't played it at all. Unfortunately it needs mods to be playable for many, and the modding scene on the PS4 version is the worst of the bunch. It's similar for MGS5 which actually has a modding scene on the PC (I even made some mods myself), so PC is the way to go for mods. But if you've never played it before and have good attention-span (i.e. you won't get bored of it) then it's a good idea. I hear Fallout 4 is similar with mods.

Black Friday is around the corner and I know money can be tight during times of unemployment, so just choose one with the best offers to keep yourself in the green.

The Witcher 3 is a great game. With all the expansions there are days worth of play time, but if you have already done everything in the base game then you already know that! :p

I have also been recently playing Dragon Age Inquisition GOTY, I think it might be currently on offer on PS Store too. I quite like it.

Diablo 3 is pretty good if you like that kind of thing.

Titanfall 2 has a cool campaign but it is very short. Unless you plan on playing MP online, it does not really have any legs for long term play.

Another game I am enjoying at the moment is Divinity: Original Sin. It is pretty huge and you can sink untold hours into it, but it is quite sedate in pace and combat is turn based :)

Have you considered Destiny? Destiny: The Collection is out now and includes all expansions. That would keep you busy for a while, particularly if you do the patrols, raids, strikes, bounties etc etc. Then there is the MP too. Out of all my PS4 games, I always roll back into Destiny at some point.

If you want a tough, and I mean extremely tough game then Track Mania Turbo is one of the hardest games I have ever played. Getting gold medal on each track in single player is tough. It would propbably keep you busy until pretty much the end of your life as there are something like 100+ tracks to master :p

I have an XB1.. I get fed up with all the darn updates.. I don't want a 2nd console with updates to do.. Happy to use a PS4 for just offline gaming..

I'll update if/when I have to so I can play a particular game.. like PS3 which occasionally forced us to update to a fw to play the latest GOW game or similar.

You could just play offline. Let the update download then stick the console in rest mode. It will then update and be ready with the update the next time you boot up the console. Rather than never updating at all.

Also I had to update yesterday. I turned it on, went to update screen and hit next. Soon as it hit the loading screen I went away and got myself a drink by the time i was back it was ready to go. It takes less than 3 mins to update the console.

going to upgrade my ps4 HDD does anyone know if the drives that are in the seagate portable external drives that argos sell work ok in the PS4 (either the 1tb or the 2tb drive). Was thinking of getting one of those to put in the PS4 and then put the 500gb drive into the case to use as a usb hdd.

the issue with those drives is they make a loud beeping noise every so often. it doesn't happen right away. the more you will them the louder the beep. they weren't designed for this type of use people believe they aren't getting as much power as they should or something. working in a low power state but nobody knows for sure. i know mine makes a beep every 45 mins or so.

No chance, old stock is drying up so the push to get rid isnt there, plus that £150 was more about PR then reality as barely anywhere had them anyway.

The £220 deals are probably the best we are going to get until after xmas, unless a store randomly decides to cut some off today.

Hi folks. Just looking to pick your collective brains.....

We are looking at converting our spare room to a cinema/gaming room.

We are torn between a projector vs a large TV.

So my question really is how suitable are projectors for gaming, particularly fast paced FPS like Titanfall 2? Would be looking at about a 79inch wide screen (width not diagonal), sitting 8.5 feet away. Cant really afford native 4k but would be a good 1080p unit.

As for a TV it would be a 65 inch native 4k jobbie. Probably a Sony but will have to research it. Not sure if i should go OLED or not. Im not overly brand loyal, I just like the best quality I can get for the money.

My main concern is screen response for gaming (will be PS4, maybe a pro as I might upgrade). Im used to a good response time. My PC screen is 1-2ms @120 hz. My current 40inch TV which I use for my PS4 is pretty quick too.

Any input appreciated :)

I have an issue with my PSN account, wonder if anyone here could off some advice. I had the account taken over a few months ago by someone else and only regained access a month ago. When looking at my purchase history in the Media section online, I noticed that I had apparently downloaded games such as Dirt 3 and others not available on PS4. When I contacted support they said that there wasn't a problem as I have 2-Step verification enabled and it would be impossible to login to my account from elsewhere. So how have these games got on my account? Is it possible someone has used my account on a PS3 and saved the log in details on that console before I enabled the better security? It's rather worrying...

No, once 2FA is enabled you cannot log into any consoles until you put in a code.

Go to your account management either on the PS Store web site or on the console and you can access a transaction log which will tell you exactly when those games were bought. Hopefully they were from when your account was previously taken over.

What's the rough budget? Current/recent Sony pjs are the best option for quality/input lag at the moment, but there's some cheaper dlps that are decent.

Well i want to try and get everyrhing I need for around £2k

Obviously that seriously limits my options in terms of projectors which is why I am tempted to get a big 4k tv instead. But the wife likes the idea of a projector for movies. Not sure if a projector is worth it on a 2k budget though.

My PS4 keeps ejecting disks. I tried all the remedies posted online but nothing works. The damn thing even turns itself on randomly and starts ejecting disks. Even after the disk has been ejected I can still hear the motor inside spinning and it's pretty loud. End up having to unplug the console. Rest mode or fully switched on, doesn't matter, it'll still switch itself on and keep that damn motor spinning. Oh yeah and it also keeps making beeping noises, randomly, even whilst switched off as well.

Tried calling Sony but they can't do anything unless I pay £125. Which I don't think is fair since the console has sat in the same place since I got it and never tampered with it. Got the console a couple months after launch from HMV. :(

Don't think there's anything I can do unless I pay which I'm not willing to do as I hardly ever play. Mainly used for streaming services.

If its out of warranty why would you expect them to pay? it sucks its gone faulty but not there fault either.

Used ones can be had for £100, or get a private company to repair yours but i know when i looked to fix mine they were charging way over the odds in end i fixed it myself

Well I've had ejecting disks issue for a couple of years now. But it has never been that bad, only ever required a restart and it would work again. It wasn't a big enough issue at the time to go through a in-warranty return process. Besides I don't even play it that much so it never really bothered me.

However, I'm pretty certain after a software update is when the issue got to where it is now. I don't see how this is my fault and why I should be out of pocket when I've never moved the thing or ever tampered with it.
