did the 4.50 firmware update that allows USB external hard drive support completely pass you by? ;) just get a usb external drive and bung games on there. Much easier than mucking about replacing the drive. Plus you'll then have both drives as storage...

Has to be a USB3 cable or it wont work.

It did :p. I've not really touched my console for past 6 months or so, got some new games, then got annoyed at having no space again.

I'll just grab the first external I see on a decent deal then.

good stuff - yeah, it was so annoying having to delete stuff all the time. I personally went for a 4TB drive and it was extremely satisfying being able to install ALL my games / downloads etc onto it and still have masses of space free. Amazed sony didn't allow this from the start, but glad they finally did.

What's the best 2tb drive to replace the standard one with? Getting annoyed having to constantly shuffle games on the 500GB.

Despite the fact there is now external HD support, I instead upgraded my internal one. I like everything contained, no chance of drives being knocked over, cables disconnected when I don't want them to etc.
Seagate SSHD 2TB, less than £100, 4x the storage you did have on the 500GB and faster loading etc.

love the SSHD drives myself. you get all the benefits of an ssd and a mechanical drive in one. sure it's not blistering fast or make a huge difference on PS4 but it makes enough of a difference that i do notice i load in quicker than everyone else.

i think in Destiny it's 5-6 seconds before anyone else in the fireteam when going from orbit to the tower. that extra 5-6 seconds i'm usually done doing what i need to do and i can go grab a drink or take a pee whilst waiting on the rest.

It would be nice if the PS5 could be as fast as the PC for loading games with SSD. I was always blown away when Assassin's Creed Syndicate loaded in 2 - 4 seconds. Yet the PS4 remains in that white/grey-ish dream plate until it loads as you run about waiting.

SSD will never really be compatible with consoles. console games were never really designed to be run on such a fast drive. they are usually designed with a OEM console in mind. which is why anyone who buys an SSD for a console is throwing money away. also the issues the consoles have themselves with such hard drives. slow downs over time, etc.

hybrid is more than fast enough for console use. it would be great but it's not a deal breaker IMO. I'll take a hybrid for a console even if SSD's were 100% compatible. hybrid gives you large enough boost anyway across the board usually.

I have speakers I am using on my PC, how would I connect these to my PS4? It's using the standard green 3mm/ 3.5mm whatever plug.

Do I just need a little convertor ? Monitor speakers are tinny, and my tv stand is broke so tv is out of use.

Yeah, I had originally used the ones that will do Dolby/DTS as others manufacturers tell you to switch it to LPCM since there is no Dolby/DTS.

Anyone gone digital on consoles, like you would on PC/Steam?

Not sure if I want the physical disc, or extras from digital download. I'll pre-order Crash Bandicoot before release but can't make my mind up.
