*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

As an early adopter to the PS4, I just accept that the games library is very limited so we're not likely to see any really good PS+ games for some time yet.

My replacement analogue sticks came for my PS4 pad today but I'm still no clearer on how I actually take the pad apart and replace them.

No videos on YouTube showing how to do it, there are tear down videos but they don't really help as they don't directly show you how to replace the sticks.

How did you guys know to do it?

I bumped into this exact problem the other week. Unfortunately my solution was to wait until I just couldn't live with the sticks any more, and hope by that point there would be videos up :p

mine haven't arrived yet and i ordered them ages ago.

what seller did you buy from?

it's pretty simple, take apart the controller, remove the stick and put the new one in.

put everything back into it's original place and screw it back together.

i did my DS3's with no video.

I got them from a UK seller on ebay. It doesn't seem that simple though, you have to unscrew lots of things.

5 screws and a couple of ribbon cables IIRC. Not that hard when I looked at the teardown videos - just make sure you check how everything fits before you move stuff and then return them as such.

Take your time, but if you arent comfortable just dont do it and get the pad replaced...

ps3ud0

I doubt Sony would have the pad back now because one of the screws on the back of the bad does looked a bit tampered with from where I unscrewed it a little bit.

Really can't justify spending £50 on a new pad though.

take it to your local independent mobile phone repair stall in a local small shopping centre and ask him to replace it for you.

since your giving him the thumbstick and the only cost to him is time you could probably get him to do it for a couple of quid.

PS4 has been working totally fine for about the month that I've had it, now I go to load Fifa and it wont read the disc. Just says no disc inserted.

EDIT. Reset the PS4 and it's fine now. Weird.

I'm fairly used to taking things apart and fixing them, but the DS4 honestly is very easy, there's a tear down vid here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEaQhwEE8Zc&app=desktop just take your time and don't be too rough with the ribbons.

Most of it, (going from memory here) you remove the four screws, carefully unclip the two halves of the controller, remove the light bar ribbon from the circuit board and put the back to one side, remove the battery, there's a screw in the center of the board you need to remove then you should be able to lift out the board to get access to the sticks (can't remember for certain but you may need to remove the touch pad ribbon as well).

Pretty sure the sticks themselves just pull off.

The thing I'm struggling with now is the triggers. There's these little spring things that sit beside the triggers, they fell off and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with them.
