Is it the wrong time to start a rumour about the Pro SE with better CPU and faster GPU?

Don't give them any ideas if you don't want to upgrade in two years. £900, controller and plates sold separately.

But yeah, what I said about the CPU in my last post might rear its ugly head sooner than expected:P

Don't get too hyped if you play Baldurs gate 3

It's patched for ps5 pro but because it's a cpu limited game and the pro has the same cpu as the base system, that gpu power doesn't get used

A whole 1% faster in that part of the map

For the price, the pro should have had a better cpu

For the price the whole console could have been better

The full DF review is a bit more lukewarm than I thought, they like it overall but they aren't that overwhelmingly positive about it. It's also super-disappointing to see Alan Wake 2 still not holding 60fps in performance mode and having image quality issues, the new perf mode actually drops below the base PS5 in forest sections because of added detail.

Kinda glad I waited but I'm still having it on my radar because it's the only option to have a bit more perf on consoles. Still, for the price and drive shenanigans, it's a bit of a ****show TBH.

Austin has tested the PS5 pro to be about 4 decibels louder than the normal ps5 slim which is disappointing as I was hoping for a quieter console or at least on par with the slim.

I appreciate there will likely be variance from console to console with different fans etc but it being louder is disappointing.

Debating whether to return mine when it arrives tomorrow. Though I’m sure it’ll be worth it for future games
Kinda crossed my mind too. TBH I don’t think many games would be cpu limited, but surprised how weak it already is.

I have a lg oled b5 and whilst it’s great, it doesn’t have VRR so suspect I’ll need to upgrade that too.

No clue if im allowed to mention but a popular online video GAME retailer has the 30th edition ps5 up for pre order. Confirmed working as of 4:30am I'd imagine will sell out fast.

I wouldn't trust Austin's numbers as fact, because he has shown in the past to measure things incorrectly. I can see he is still trying to measure the temperature of exhaust air as a proxy for the temperature of the console and this is completely the wrong way to measure the system - the temperature of air coming out of a console tells you nothing about how hot the chip inside the console is. So I wouldn't be surprised if his sound measurements are also wrong because he maybe didn't account for background noise etc - console noise should really be measured in a sealed chamber with a very low noise floor and he's measuring it in a large open room and who knows what is making background noise, from vehicles outside, to air conditioning and even filming equipment could create noise that gets picked up.

That being said, if I take Austin's numbers as fact (which is stupid) then it doesn't make much sense. Austin's measurements suggest the Pro runs warmer and has a louder fan than the slim, yet in game the power draw on both systems is nearly identical. And when he opens it up you can see the cooling on the pro is quite a bit chunkier than the slim - larger heatsinks and 2 extra heatpipes and a bigger fan, why does it have all these extra cooling if the system is using the same power draw as the slim.. its just weird

The other thing worth keeping in mind, is that the base ps5 came with 3 or 4 different fan models and there was significant variance in noise pitch between them - I'm lucky and got the best one and my fan is dead quiet even after 4 years I can't hear it at all
