I also noted the pad haptics were used in the main Nora village in the lead up to the proving. Can’t recall if this was the case in PS4, or even on the PS5 pre remaster but I noticed it and thought it was pretty cool.

Might have been there before the remaster though :p

No, the haptics are new. There certainly more to this Nixxie-developed remaster than I think is acknowledged. Again not that it wasn't a stunning game on PS4 already made even better by the 60fps patch at PS5 launch.

I was tempted but after seeing the review on the PS5 Pro i am not so sure
Is it overpriced? Definitely.

Will it make a bunch of games I own or still want to play look/play better? Seems like it.

Is only money, you can't take it with you. I don't smoke, hardly drink and don't get out much so if I want to spend my (occasionally) hard earned on a console, why not.

Only you can justify it. You’ll see anyone in this thread who bought one justifying it and anyone who hasn’t bought one doing the opposite.

It’s your money, provided you can afford it then no one else can tell you how should spend it.

Is it expensive? Sure, 700 for a console is a lot of cash. The 20% Very offer kindly posted here helped bring it closer to 550, selling my OG PS5 for 275 helped get it below 300 but that’s only me justifying it to myself.

I also just really like playing games on my PS5. I use my PC for fps games but the majority of my gaming is done on the PS5 so I’m really happy to play the games I enjoy with varying improvements. F1 24 feels like a genuinely new game, Horizon looks insane, and I’m excited to see what updates keep coming to other games.

Pretty much this.

I can't justify it for myself, I don't feel how I use my PS5 it would add that much more for me.

I can fully see why others can justify the upgrade though, there's no right or wrong answer, it just depends on your individual factors.

Well, it all boils down to how many of those games you've played or want to keep playing. I appreciate that there's a tangible difference in titles like RE4 or Stellar Blade (there better be, lol) but I played those to death. In games that have already looked great, it's not something that changes the experience dramatically.

Would I want to replay some of those games with slightly better IQ? Yes.
Do I think what it currently offers is worth the price of admission? No way.

Some of the games I want it to run well currently have problems that make the experience worse than on base console so there's that.

I'm saying that while knowing I'm ultimately going to get one, might be in a month or half a year, dunno, but the experience is just not very "pro" for the price, skimping on accessories etc.

My stance is if you don't have a PS5 and want to buy one now - go for the Pro, even if we still have to bother with modes, 30fps RT and not-so-stable 60fps it's the best we're going to get till the PS6. if you have the base model, though - I'd wait a couple of months.

I really appreciated the jump from ps4 to ps4 pro and had one of the ps1 skinned ps5 pros in my cart on launch day but decided at last moment it was just too much and that my ps5 is great as is. Spent the money on covering most of my current pc upgrade

To help more Pro owners justify their purchase:

I got EA PLay a couple of months ago as I saw it was 99p. Cancelled it to stop the renew at 5.99 a month but managed to hammer Jedi Survivor in that 30 days. I now see the same offer is available again.

It shows offer ends 15/11

Enhanced stuff that I can see:

Jedi Survivor (Full Game)
Maddedn 25/FC 25/NHL 25 College Football 25 (10 hour trial)
UFC 5 (10 hour trial)
F1 24 (5 hour trial)

I'll probably do it just to load up my game save of Jedi Survivor to see the difference and also the F1 24 trial.

Thanks just added a month for 99p.

Ok so I tried to try hogwarts legacy.. and I didn’t actually get into the game(hadn’t fully downloaded yet), but the main menu made the fan go like crazy.

Edit. Re4 and stellar blade with everything maxed was totally silent.

Hogwarts has a lot of Ray tracing on ps5 pro probably the most demanding game for the system, easy to run on my pc though

Hogwarts only uses RT in the 30fps quality mode, no other mode uses it and I think you have to specifically select Quality + RT IIRC, you can't go Performance + RT.

EDIT: Oh, forgot you can uncap the framerate so not exactly 30fps:P

Yeah the menus do seem to make the fan work a bit more, nothing too bad though, but I certainly notice it compared to in game, I find it fine in game, just a nice steady fan that I can't really hear. I think that game needs some more optimising for the pro, there's a bug when playing in performance mode, If using locked frame rate entering the map or menus cause a hdmi handshake every time. At first I thought it was an issue my end, until I saw a recent discussion about it elsewhere.

It's just the menu guys, this has nothing to do with RT or anything, there's zero RT in this game apart from Quality mode that targets 30fps.

I've encountered it once or twice on PC too when a game menu made it sweat more than it should.
Maybe Hogwarts does it on PC too, don't remember but I'll check later.

I've tried quality RT and performance modes and the fans seem the same across both modes, I wouldn't say the fans go crazy in the menus of this game from what I've played, just a little more obvious compared to actually playing.
