I have a disc drive sitting on my shelf in preparation for buying one but I’m not convinced by the system even at the £650 it’s now on sale for.

Can anyone with the console sell me on the idea of buying one! :D

Glad you're enjoying it! For me it's a bit of a excessive luxury because I already have the capability to play the games in higher fidelity and higher frame rates. But yet there's still that little thing in my brain saying oh you might enjoy this for like a week lol.

I do have a pretty decent digital library though on it and I don't have a lot of those games on my PC, although they are mainly indie games but that's fine.

I started this game a while ago on my OG PS5, it looked great but gave up because I found the controls clunky and some parts of the game frustrating, I’ll have to give it another go at some point.

I have my PS5 Pro set up and ready to go, I just can’t decide what to play.
 
Just started Alan Wake 2 on the Pro as I hadn't started it and when the Pro got announced I thought I'd wait, really enjoying it so far looks fantastic as well

Indian cuisine retailer have matched it too. I won't lie, between that price drop and the fact I can get some heavily discounted giftcards for there through a work benefits scheme I have been reconsidering it, but if it's had a £40 discount so soon after launch I think I'm happy to wait 6 months or more and see what offers are available then.

@silvagti I don't think you will find one definitive answer on if you should buy the Pro, it's little more than a nice to have if you have the money and want the best GFX/framerates you can get on a console......outside of PC gaming #flex_4090. So if you want the Pro, have the money free and a TV that will allow you to get the best from the PS4 Pro then all I can say and what you will have read on these forums is that you won't be disappointed, the smoother/higher (in some games) framerates with improved GFX is nice, not game changing or next gen, but nice and there will be more to come over the next few years.

I wonder who is pushing for the discount so soon. Is it Sony realising they mispriced it or retailers doing it on their own to produce more sales.

I'm the same as you no rush to purchase yet. Another few months and we'll have a greater idea of games specifically designed for Pro and whether they are significantly better than the OG P"5.

I imagine if it was Sony that every retailer would be offering the discount, especially the rainforest.

It has sold more than the ps4 pro did in the same timeframe. Make of that what you will :P

Not wanting to sound cheeky but given the high pricing/discounts on offer and ready availability of the console I find that very hard to believe unless retailer orders/stock count as “sales “ but it could be possible I guess!

I had problems finding stock when I bought my ps4 pro a while after launch but I think it was due to them changing the design of the console due to issues with the fan noise and cooling.
