Eh way Sony is fudging the numbers on physical Vs PSN sales data and not supplying enough disc drives or even including one with said console they probably want this to be last generation with physical media, and unfortunately lot of people seem to have this hate boner for people who enjoy physical games
A lot of the hate is from people who they think they are saving the planet.

Oh yes, they definately WANT to kill the drive, but the sales numbers on the PS5 addon for the Pro/Slim is hopefully showing them there is still enough interest that it'd not be in thier best interests to drop it yet.

We'll see, it's Sony, they're arrogant at the best of times unfortunately.]

Only reason I went PS5 Pro and Disc is I got it for £650 all in (which is a much more reasonable raise vs the 450-500 the OG Disc console cost, considering the extra GPU/RT horsepower, developer available choice to go with 10% more CPU for CPU bottlenecked titles and the extra storage), I'd not have touched it at £800.

One thing that DID surpise me is how positively SVELTE it is vs my OG PS5, it really feels like the PS5 Gym edition, slim down, muscle up lol. The side covers to access the SSD slot and mounting point for the ODD are also much easier to remove than my OG PS5 as well, so at least they learnt something thier, although I'm not fond of the plastic A stand clip things and resting it on it's side, vs the proper horizontal stand they included with the OG. I also noticed compared to the OG, they really cut corners on the quality of the box/packing, the entire thing felt thinner and flimsier; maybe they thought they could get away with it due to the weight reduction, but does feel a little wrong on the more expensive PRO console.

A lot of hate is from frankly idiots who haven't looked at or researched the price difference between physical and digital in many regions. In Europe at least (and others though), physical can often be vastly cheaper, which makes no logical sense, but it is what it is, especially as physical has it's own distinct advantages over digital only.

If it was at normal price (Amazon EU was being a bit naughty and trying to get 200+ the other day)... congrats :)

Also don't forget it makes the PS5 Pro a legit UHD Bluray player also :) (albeit if you've not used it, be aware it defaults to some odd choices and during playback you need to go into the player software and tell it not to tamper with the video, and to bitstream the audio if you have appropriate equipment...)

Seems to have been a big restock on Argos today, managed to get one for delivery Saturday and there still in stock now for delivery and collection at my locals

Yep showing at mine too, good luck to all who need them. Hopefully this is a sign of the scalpers being put off in the near future.

And yes 20 was my max premium too, but 99 official price is always best in this case haha

I didn't even bother with gift card discount etc incase I missed the stock dropping lol

It makes more sense when you consider the way the market works; retailers can negotiate favourable pricing from suppliers/publishers by guaranteeing a sales figure or increasing promotion of the game, suppliers/publishers have spent money manufacturing each copy so it's in their best interests to sell as many as possible, and neither of them want to be left with valuable stock on the shelves of warehouses so they'll reduce pricing to clear them.

On the other hand, the publisher is largely in control of a digital copy so they'll set the price high to catch those who'll buy at that price, then offer promotions later down the line. If a digital copy doesn't sell there's no cost attached to it other than lost sales revenue.

Can I ask guys is there anything like gg.deals but for physical PS4/5 games in UK? Aka a price comparison or tracking website ?

Not that i know off. The Game Collection is consistently the cheapest, especially if the game is included in their "get £10 worth of extra loyalty" promotions. Amazon price match them and can be cheaper sometimes. I just scan HotUKDeals every day or so, personally. You can set custom alerts on that website also.

Games from TGC sometimes come with a free steelbook as well.

I got mine yesterday, and I was also super surprised. I checked the box a couple of times to make sure they had not sent me the PS5 slim edition instead!

It sits alongside my son and daughter's PS5 launch models in our gaming cave, and its noticeably smaller.....gotta be the lack of a drive?

The lack of a drive certainly helps with making it look slim, also the black stripe helps breakup the outline, with the drive I'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between my Pro and the OG PS5.
