Can't believe this is the first time I've thought about the V of the dev kit being a 5
Interesting, but I still don't think the PS5 will have any similarities to the dev kit at all.

Love the look and colour scheme of the DS5. Looks like an Xbox controller too, which isn't a bad thing.

Do an experiment if you have an Xbox controller. First of all relax your hands and note the position of your thumbs. Then pick up the Xbox controller and notice that your left thumb has hardly had to move away from the rest position, the same with your right thumb if you have it positioned on the buttons. Next put your thumbs on the dpad and the right analogue stick which is the same position as PlayStation controllers sticks. keeping your thumbs still take your hands off of the controller and notice how both thumbs are in a slightly un-relaxed position. That's the difference and why Xbox controllers are more ergonomic.
 
I like the look of it, what matters is the ergonomics, you won't hold in front of your face when you game...

Currently my hand cramps when playing racing games not so much in other games, so hopefully will be better next gen.

I'm also in favour of a white console, my PS4 pro is white and I just don't like the look of a black console and controller, it just looks cheaper imo.
 
I like its futuristic looks, although would prefer it being black. I like the feel of the DS4 though so I'm hoping the new design doesn't make it less comfortable.
 
XB has always had the better controller. The offset thumbsticks are a massive part of that.
 
I like it. Integrated mic is a very nice touch, for the exact purpose they state, "occassional use".

Triggers look cack though, hated the DS3 triggers. Also hated the XB1 controller, cack dpad, triggers, and shoulder pads especially. 360 controller was nice, except dpad. But Sony dpad has been the best ever.

Looking forward to this.
 
I think people are hating on the controller because it's the thing to do on Social Media. It's not that bad. There will be a variety of different colours available once it's launched.

XBox vs PS controller debate is the same old SNES is Better than Mega Drive and vice versa playground crap.
 
I guess they base it on usage stats, but who needs the lights and the touchpad? I never owned PSVR or the camera before that so the lights were useless for my PS4. The Touchpad is just 1 big extra button, if utilised at all, in most games i've played.

The touchpad is there for backwards compatibility (PS4) I agree, I don’t use it, but I think it needs to be there for the BC. The lights are a waste of time. Hate them on my ds4.

love this controller though. Looks amazing. Some of the colour mock ups I’ve seen look awesome.

I totally forgot about the BC, so that makes sense for the touchpad!

New controller looks good to me, be better in black though and would like to see it side by side with the a Dualshock 4 for size comparison.
