I've always liked the Xbox overlay for their party/friends panel - but outside of that, for me, the PS5 UI is better.
Also @Noxia is spot on too - the adverts all over the Xbox dashboard are ridiculous. Paying 450 quid for a console and then 40 odd quid for Xbox gold (or more with gamepass) only to have adverts littered throughout really doesn't sit well with me.

finally using my ps5 for gaming tonight, grabbed disgaea 6 complete for about 30 quid of kinguin earlier, i was reluctant to spend full price as i heard its not as good and shorter then previous ones and the switch one runs bad so i waited on the ps5 one to come out and be a fair price.

I just buy a new console when it releases and keep it until the next one comes out. Forgive me but to whom do you need to justify it to? I am not being serious.
Myself, because when using my powerhouse of a PC, I'll spot the PS5 and just think, that's £450 sat doing nothing because I shall always prioritise the PC

Nah, I've seen the 4090 reviews, my PS5 will not be delivering that kind of FPS at that fidelity ever. Doesn't take away it's good value in comparison, however. PC gaming costs are ridiculous now but it's like one of my few hobbies so.
Edit: Plus a lot of the games I like to play don't exist on console, and yet Sony are slowly pushing games to PC making it kinda redundant for me,

Think of the cost difference there though (even before scalpers). Not really apples to apples is it?
Do you mean discounts on games for having PSN plus or the subscription itself?
If the latter then probably Black Friday, that's the time I've usually renewed and got a deal.
Last year (26th October) was when I bought my PS Now sub for 50% off. So it could be in the next two weeks.
No but nor is comparing something useful to a console. What have scalpers got to do with it? I've not got anything from one.
I wasn't comparing them other than saying ps5 is better vfm to me.

Has there been any news I've missed on a slim variant? I've lost all track of timelines, no idea if we'd be expecting one in 23 or 24.
I always hold out for the slims personally.
No solid news. The latest I've read is that the next model is going to be like the PS5 Digital (maybe a bit smaller) and then if you want the disc drive, you'll have to buy it as a USB add-on.

Hmm that may be a bit unsightly but considering how seldom I use it it'd probably live in a drawer most of the time.
