I've just picked up a 1TB WD Black SN850 which has no heatsink. Could someone suggest the best one to pick up, or is it just any one will do?

I've also seen chatter about firmware, is this something the console takes care of if it needs an update?

TIA

I have the Sabrent heatsink on my 850 works great. The PS5 won’t update the SSD firmware you could chuck it in a pc to update before installing in PS5.

Thanks, I've bought the heatsink.

Will I need to update the firmware for sure? That's going to be a hassle so I'd rather avoid if possible.
I've just got the 980 pro for the kids ps5 since Samsung had a £40 cashback offer on it and I just installed in the ps5 then formatted and it's working fine so I don't think messing about with the firmware is necessary.

Has anyone bought the new DualSense Edge controller? It's available to order now, although not shipping until the end of Jan.

I'm interested in it (especially the ability to swap out thumb stick modules) but the cost just seems a bit on the mental side.

It's just too much money, especially for us guys in the UK who are all feeling the pinch currently.

I really want a upgraded controller for FPS but it's just too much for a controller we know little about.

Latest rev. PS5 bundled with some goodies has just arrived. Astro's Playroom is first on the weekend if time allows:p

Haven't used a console for like four years but I'm done with the PC market for now. I'll wait till there are sensible GPU upgrade paths and decent monitors don't go for the price of my oled.

A new PS5 bundled with a second controller, charging dock and GT7 (with uhmm, GT7-themed plate holders, god knows what for:P) cost me significantly less than what a new 3080 goes for now. I even got myself a used copy of Returnal, a H:FW code on the cheap and Fifa 2023 for my dad and I'm still under the cost of a two-year-old GPU. Hilarious.

PSN is UkiyoPL if anyone feels like adding me:)

It's almost half the cost of a PS5... Crazy money.

Main reason it isn't for me though is that I love the Dual Sense as is, not really sure there is anything that needs changing.

Longer battery life maybe but I've never had it die on me mid session, doesn't take long to charge so would be nit-picking.

When I first saw the Edge controller I was like “shut up and take my money!”

However, that was when I thought it would retail similar to the Elite v2. But £210 is silly money. I’m just not prepared to pay that for a controller.

Might try and pick one up second hand at some point unless they have a sale on.

I paid £360 for my PS5 with 1 DualSense controller, if you subtract £55 for the controller then the DualSense Edge controller costs over two thirds of my console. That's one hell of a price for a couple of back buttons.

Completely agree. It is just a bonkers price point. I won’t buy one out of principle, which really pains me as I do really want one. I have a digital only PS5 and paid same as you, £360 on release.

Sony are way off base with this one in my opinion, but I’m sure greater minds than I at Sony would disagree!

Anyone give me some help with my ps5, i play on a Sony ag9 oled with the supplied ps5 hdmi and have all settings set for 4k (enhanced etc) all ps4 games and ps5 games have been fine all run in 4K but today I installed a plague take requiem and when launching the game it’s gone from 4k to 1080p and the game looks and plays horrendous I just can’t seem to get it back to 4k unless I literally close the game on the dashboard and the ps5 goes back to 4k ??

All I can think of is the game maybe being the ps4 version so is running 1080p or something like that?

It’s the ps5 version mate I just don’t understand it first time it’s happened in nearly two years maybe the game didn’t install properly ‍♂️

Sounds more like a software thing to me, no issues with standard HDMI cable, don't go wasting money on another one yet.

Considering how poor that game is on console and PC, I'd bet it's to do with the game.

Update:

Well I did exactly what you said I went into saved data and game/App settings and changed game presets from default to resolution mode and the game is now working in 4K again. Seems strange the console would choose 1080p performance mode when set to default I know the ag9 is only hdmi 2.0 and 60hz but still.

Thanks for all your input and help.
