How are the actual Sony cross platform headphones? I can't even remember the name as Sony is not good at marketing between divisions.

But they are always on so if you want to play through the TV you have to switch it manually. Whereas the Pulse does it automatically when you power them on and off. Not a biggie but the pulse ones integrate well.

Eh ? My arctis will auto switch when I turn the ps5 on? (If selected in the ps5 OS) obviously the arctis need to be switched on too

They auto switch too. So when I turn my ps5 on, if I have the option ticked, it’ll switch to them automatically. (Just pointing this out for anyone who wants to know)
Hmm I need to look at this now as my 7P+ don't auto switch on afaik.

Arctis 9s don’t either.

What I mean is that when I turn on my PS5 there is no sound through the tv whether my headphones are on or off because the default selection is set to the headphones. Only when I turn them on do I get sound through them. If I want to listen to ps5 sound via the tv I have to switch it manually. The pulse does it automatically when you turn them on/off.

Only offering a discount on one particular SKU isn't unusual, the disc version is by far the more common one (I don't know anyone with a digital version) so I'd imagine that has a lot to do with it.

They have no real reason to clear stock, the PS5 is already selling very well so they could easily clear stock naturally if they wanted to.

Good evening. We don’t know each other but I’m making you aware that I am an owner of PS5 Digital since day 1.

So you now know at least 1 random internet stranger who owns a PS5 digital.

I’m happy I have been able to fill that void for you!

Goodnight and god bless! :p

Just woke up to a tonne of deals.. Around £400 for console with a game is a great deal. There must be a slim/pro about to drop for them to be dropping almost 25% off the price.
Not really they raised they raised the price for everybody in Europe by 50 Quid a while ago but in the US the price stayed the same so 400 Quid is the price it should be anyway don't forget they games are overpriced as well.

What's the deal with all the people wasting their time, posting that a 450 quid console, isn't as powerful as a grands worth of PC? I've had to add a fair few to my ignore list, to make this thread readable again - it's almost like they can't resist trying to make out they're a master race or something

Yeah, too bad that the point of the conversation was hardly PC being more capable than the PS5 and many of the comments were made by people who spend 90% of the time on console now, like me, but I guess it's easier to ignore than actually read, nothing changes indeed:P

I do think there is a conflation between the perceptions of the PS5’s graphical processing power and the notion that the PS5 is being held back by previous gen.

It isn’t just about graphics, though. The common theme seems to be that the fundamentals of game design are still rooted in the limitations of last gen. The obvious inference being we get last gen games just with better graphics or the ability to have faster load times and nothing really “next gen”. But I can’t see how it can be any other way without hugely damaging revenue potential and at the same time causing the disenfranchisement of a large portion of their customer base. It’s also just not a cost effective or practical way for dev studios to operate and creates a more obvious tiered approach.

Personally I’m really happy with my PS5 and have used it a lot, much more than my series X or gaming laptop. That being said, I just wish the devs would cater for more tastes in play style and release games with more options to reduce fidelity and increase frames along with better overall optimisation. But if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Sure, I’d love 4k 60frames with high texture resolution etc but it’s a £400 piece of kit. I firmly believe that for the money it’s a lot of bang for buck, but it was never meant to be a miracle machine.

The PS5 was never supposed to be able to match the latest PC tech and comparing apples and oranges is surely a largely pointless discussion?

The obsession with RT is also frustrating. Just no, leave it alone and focus on optimisation!

£399 from Argos too! It’s finally dropped to a price that’s convinced a mate of mine to get one, thankfully. He’s somehow managed to make his PS4 last nearly 10 years but I think it was genuinely on life support.

Also we really don’t need to compare PCs to consoles. I love that I can fire up my PS5 and jump straight into a game. I love that I can tinker with settings on my PC to maximise frames and upgrade different components, that’s part of what I love most about the hobby.

I strongly agree with this - I just don't understand the fascination with RT. To me, it's mostly a gimmick driven by NVIDIA's PR machine to justify their GPU prices. I'm confident the majority of gamers would prefer compute power being used to optimise performance/frame rates rather than implementing a luxury graphical effect ( that many don't even notice in actual gameplay ).

I think RT does add to the the experience when done properly on a machine that has the computational power.

However, it is more of a hinderance than a help with console games on hardware with vastly less processing power than is needed to properly implement RT.

I firmly believe the net benefits of proper dedication to engine work, coding and optimisation will always outweigh clumsy attempts to add RT.

Yup, agree with the above and most of the other points as well.

RT is great, just not for current consoles as they can't do it properly. Resources would be better spent elsewhere.

I'll also add for the umpteenth time that I'm happy with the PS5, I just wish more focus went into the best optimisation possible and, first and foremost, deeper and more varied gameplay. Many modern games drop the ball on that point.

Don't need better looking games than the ones we currently have, they look plenty good enough and the entire discussion about power was to be a bit more realistic as to what we can expect from the console.
