I never bother with overclocking or temps etc with my PC. I think people get too obsessive with numbers.

I get what you guys say about exclusives but it's a lot of money to pay just to play a couple of games

It depends on how you prefer to play games too. Like others have said, it's so nice to know I can just fire up the console and play a game and it just works.

I always thought that I'd use my PS5 for exclusives/single player games and my PC for FPS games - but it turns out that I'd rather play on a more 'level' playing field so almost prefer playing Call of Duty, BF2042, F1 etc. on PS5 as everyone is on the same platform and you're less likely to come across anyone cheating - and then I use my PC for playing single player games at the highest settings that my PC can handle. Jedi Survivor ran a lot better and looked a lot better on my PC than it did on my PS5 so that's where I'm happy I have the flexibility.

The PS5 then is also for the exclusives too! The only exception to that is Battlebit where I'm essentially playing a Roblox FPS game on my PC...

I genuinely think I could get by for my gaming needs without a PC - but my PC is more than just for games at this stage, much like it is for others.

I mean .. £399 isn’t that much. Phones these days go into the 1000’s. And they mostly get used for social media !

I have a gaming-capable PC and I like having one, but I do the vast majority of my gaming on the PS5. In many ways it's just a better, easier experience and that's before you get into exclusives. Granted, they'll eventually find their way over to the PC but I'd rather not be waiting 2+ years.

A PS5 and a PC is a pretty great combination really.
 
2 questions please:

P5 Plus 2TB a good choice for NVME drive (one that comes with heatsink seems a good price) - presumably not really worth paying extra for Firecuda 530 etc

If sign up to the Beta does it affect Warranty ?

I’m very much into PlayStation this gen, although hoping Xbox will start to release some decent IP on GPU.

One thing that’s getting my goat with PlayStation though, is the insistence on having sales but only discounting deluxe or ultimate edition versions of titles. Way to go - make out like your store is offering great deals by discounting a ton of rubbish digital content that isn’t worth squat to the overwhelming majority of gamers and if we are honest only really exist to lure people into pre-orders.

Accept it might actually originate with publishers rather than Sony, but nevertheless I feel it’s a bit rubbish.

Right, that’s my 30 second soap box moment. Tune in next time for another micro rant about the state of modern gaming!

I think it uses the YouTube player? So it often starts at low resolution and then gets better by the time video is about to end.
 
also impressed with PS5 fan noise, ok I can hear the reported "ticking" from the fan if I put my ear to it but other than that its very quiet

not as quiet as the Series X which I've never heard but different planet to my PS4 which sounds like a hoover sometimes !

Don't think I've actually ever heard the fan on my PS5, only the disk drive. Massive improvement from my OG PS4 which sounded like it was going to take off
