The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

There's all kinds of weird stuff they can do. "Inspired by" or whatever, the name to me says it isnt.. I'm kind of hoping that it isnt, most prequels I've seen so far havent been very good. All they stuff they have to contrive to get it to fit. Just let it be its own story, it doesnt have to be connected directly to anything.

Its a tie in, a tie in set before the events of alien, it isnt a prequel so to speak but it does explain elements of the alien movie ie the back story of the jockey and his ship.

to complicate it more than that is to do it an injustice, its a stand alone movie that should be by all signs a fantastic piece of cinema.

Regardless of whether this is going to be a prequel or another story entirely, it certainly looks interesting and is one of the few films I plan on seeing in the near future :)

I really really cant wait to see this film...the girlfriend dosnt particularly like scifi, hasnt seen alien and quite frankly dosnt care....Soooo im taking her along with me to change her perspective on all this hehe. Looooks amaaaaazing! one of if not the best film trailers ive ever seen.

sadly i will be going on my own quite a few times to see this but i don care in the slightest!

Grabbed the 1080p trailer from the Apple site and watched it 6 or 7 times!! :D

I'll go see this... On my own!

And the Wife will go see some crappy 'Chick-Flick'...

She'll just have to wait for me in the foyer when her 90 minute crap has finished, and I'm still enjoying this for another hour!! :D

Will probably watch this at home :p

Can't stand cinemas with people rustling crisp packets and nearly £10 a ticket!

That's a shame you'll miss out!

Head out for a late showing and enjoy it when a lot quieter! PLus a film like this will be well worth the fee. I do only pay about £4 though at my local Vue :p

The 'Food Nazis' at my local Empire get very arsey if you bring in your own food. I've seen someone chucked out for bringing in some Asda sweets!

I've never seen someone eating crisps at the cinema!!

So apart from the odd rustling of popcorn in a mahoosive bucket or a tray of nachos' its relatively quiet (no one can afford the packets of M&M's etc...) plus the volume of a film like this you be hard pressed to hear your own munching let alone someone elses!! :D

A mate of mine managed to get a Large Domino pizza into the Greenbridge Cineworld in Swindon once, I think he sort of curved the box around his body under his jacket. :D

I was quite surprised he got away with it tbh.

Man I hate cooked food smells in the cinema, popcorn should be it

As much as I'm anticipating this film, I'm not going to be watching this trailer, most these days seem to ruin the films before they've been released. I'm taking no chances.

I have to stop re-watching that trailer, must be about 5/6 times i've watched it now, i have never been so excited about a movie in my life.

As I posted on FB yesterday..."If I could only watch 2 movies this year, i'd watch Prometheus twice" :D

Been a long time since I've been this excited about a film. Ridley Scott is my favorite director, and this just looks....."right" in every way. I also remember seeing Alien for the first time - was 1983ish (I was 9) and my older brother acquired (ahem) a tape of it and let me watch it. I was a nervous wreck for the following month or two  I remember being intrigued by the derelict and the space jockey too...

If only we could go back and wipe Alien3, 4, v Preditor, etc, from the pages of history :(

To me this seems to be prequel pretending not to be a prequel?
If it was a true prequel fox could have a lot of say on the script?

What a year we are in for. The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobit and this look like stand out films.

.
I think thats probably because Ridley Scott didnt even know what he wanted the movie to really be. So it will be interesting to see what transpires in the film and if they do end up bridging the two movies.

Hey I thought Alien 4 was really good. I love the bit where the alien(s? can't remember) kill one of their kin so his blood dissolves through the deck to let them escape. I always imagined the one they killed thinking "him, him not me noooo" :p. Also Alien 3 was ok too (bit mediocre but not terrible). AvP films suck balls though.
