**** The Official Prometheus Spoiler Discussion Thread ****

I'd like to say (considering my mostly negative posts), for all it's many faults, this is the most I've been wrapped in thought on theories since Lost and the Matrix, and in similar fashion they were massively flawed.

So in that way, I really have come away with a great experience, I like films that have you thinking afterwards.

It's just proof that, after years of high octane comic book action movies, people have forgotton how to watch and appreciate a genuinely good piece of sci-fi.

Sunshine (2007) was a big warning sign of this. That movie bombed big time at the box office. But yet is revered by sci-fi buffs.

Inception was another... people slating it for being a mind ****. Fortunately that did rather well at box office.

Sunshine is a masterpiece, from the directing, the cinematography and then the ridiculously amazing soundtrack by John Murphy. Hugely underrated by the masses.

Regarding Inception, if you (not you personally :p ) thought that was a mind ****, you are a simpleton, great film idea and execution, but it didn't at all confuse or come across as complex, it was fairly straight forward for me.

Sunshine is certainly very good, but masterpiece? I wouldn't go that far. The fact that it devolved into quite the slasher movie towards the end let it down.

The Soundtrack is great though.

Yeah possible overstatement haha, typing as I'm watching the footy. It's fantastic though :)

Back on track, the behind the scenes pics are brilliant. Genuinely looking forward to the blu ray release.

I'm sorry, but Sunshine was rightly panned because it's drivel. Stupid script, terrible science, poor (over-)acting, and a load of characters who managed to be just interesting enough that you wanted them all to die as soon as possible. When they introduced the zombie I had to turn it off. Yea, the cinematography was good, but so what?

7.3 IMDb rating says you're wrong :)

Sunshine was great. Inception was very good too.

But Prometheus isn't at all similar to those films.

What makes great Sci-Fi? In my opinion, it's not all that different to any other genre. You need strong characters. Plausible characters. They don't have to act like you or I, but they need to be consistent. Not cowards one minute and reckless the next.

You want your dialogue to feel natural. You want your characters to say things that you could imagine your friends saying to you - things you might say yourself. You want to put your interesting characters in situations that reveal the facets of their personalities; examine their relationships. And you want it to feel natural; normal.

When I was watching Prom, I wasn't convinced by the characters. I felt they were saying and doing things they shouldn't have been. I was always *aware* of the hand of the script writer. And I had no previous bias against Lindelof, because having not followed the movie before watching it, I didn't know who was involved apart from Ridley Scott.

The suit design is amazing up close, like the first comment in that article says.."practical effects", it's nice to see it instead of 'zOMG cgi everwhere lol!'

It also looks like the Engineers suits are actually their bodies, unless I'm mistaken. So the engineers either evolved or transformed themselves over time.

Well I enjoyed it! but the woman cutting the creature out with nobody else really taking much notice was a bit stupid!.

Sunshine was **** by the way, Don't always take much notice of IMDB

Back from the second watching of this, enjoyed it far more the second time around, lots of extra little things I didn't notice the first time as well.

One that springs to mind, when the Alien is "born" at the end, there is a second fetus attached so it that's pulsating and moving of it's own accord.

Still didn't make too much sense though as the aliens in the other films are like a small snake when they are first "born" and later turn into the drones. That was born a drone which is odd. There is some lore though about the queens face hugger being vastly larger than normal ones and this was incorporated into one of the old arcade games also!

The problem with that helmet idea though is that an alien came out of the "pilot" in the original alien film and he still had what we now know as a helmet on. This really confuses what actually happened in the original film instead of just being cut and dry like it use to be.

I'm of the belief that the Aliens as we know them already exist, this "proto xeno" is of a new species.

When Holloway see's the very Alien looking mural in the back of the head room there is a greenish crystal container sitting all by itself on some kind of altar. I think that the black goo is somehow derived from the Alien itself and whatever is on the altar would create a pure Alien that we know and love.

Sunshine is the perfect film. Honestly, it's just superb.

Would make sense I suppose.
