The official Ps3 thread

hope you don't mind but being the offical PS3 post here is some news about Motorstorm

MotorStorm Does Not Support 1080p

SCE has unfortunately confirmed that MotorStorm runs at 30fps and a HD resolution of 720p ONLY.

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HD is new concept for gaming, so the mistake isn't a surprise but certainly a disappointment to many with high-end televisions. According to Sony, people "accidentally got caught up in the greater context of his [Dille] point which is that we currently do have (and will be creating much more) content that does run at 1080p and 60fps for PS3."

^^It dosent bother me....I hardly notice any difference in frame rates...Maybe because im new to next-gen gaming. On top of that, i dont think i would get the motorstorm...Im more into TPS and FPS :)

I have to say that Motorstorm plays beautifully even at 720p and 30fps. I'm pretty sure that I read there were some nifty special effects etc used to compensate for the 30fps and if there were then they work well as you dont notice the drop in frame rat eat all - not that i have ever thought it's that obvious anyway.

I dont think that many games will be released at 1080 anyway to be honest as it's just eating away at the GPU more without any serious benefit over than smoothing things up which could be done with AA.

Love your sig joebob lol

So if I connect using a hdmi cable its male to male is that right? also how would I get sound out of the ps3 into my pc speakers/stereo ? I have a female 2 way connector for the jacks like the 360 componant so how would i do it for the ps3?

Im gonna try putting in the audio from the composite cable and a hdmi lead for the picture, this should work? I read on another forum it does.

^ ^ Yeh I saw it lol

One question, do I hold down the power button 5 sec's to reset the tv signal if changing from composite to hdmi and back?

Oh and do the firmware updates automatically start when connecting up to the internet? has anyone had any issues with firmware?

No need, all is done automatically - follow on screen instruction. It will let you know what mode your tv can do first (if in auto mode) or you can select whatever you want - assuming it can do more than one e.g 480, 720, 1080i etc

I think the update is done manually - click on the update icon and it will check if you have the latest. Your ps3 should need an update when you get it - unless it has been played **cough** lol. No i havent had any issues so far..the whole thing runs smoothly with the panasonic thx42

Cool thanks, Hope it works lol, the place I have bought it from has given a 12 month warranty on it. When I get some games I will swap some if anyone wants that way its cheaper.

Cool, their is not point in gettin pal stuff, might as well order stuff on import its as cheap now
The PS3 games are cheaper to import as well so you may as well stick down that route as long as you don't mind waiting a few days more for delivery?

With regards to game swaps I will happily do a perm swap of my Jap version of Motorstorm when my US version arrives. Also I have Tony Hawks project 8 which I'm willing to do swapsies on and Fight Night round 3, although I have already swapped this for RFoM with a mate.

Just received my ps3, man its huge lol, anyway doe's anyone else think that it could have been packaged better than the 2 cardboard things? also when unwrapping the stuff on the ps3 itself it has loads of like bits on it, should wipe off ok though.

Did your ps3's have that clear sticky wrapping that you pull off the machine? because mine did'nt

No mine didn't have the clear plaggy stuff either... maybe the packaging was designed to fail when being shipped abroad to stop imports!

First thing I would do if I was you is download the Motorstorm demo ;)

Gotta get home yet :D gonna stop off and get a hdmi cable and hook it up through my hd projector, I hope the composite cable will be ok for the audio at the same time!

Looking forward to downloading some demo's

You guys updated your firmware yet?

Will a 5amp power cable be o.k? or should I stick to 3amp

I would really hope that street software prices are less than X360 - £50 is just too much imho, even for HD content howver I cant see it happening just yet but I hope Im wrong

I would laugh aloud if £335 is the incl Vat price at the end of the day - that would be a phenomenal price :D

Yeah I have updated my firware without incident. I used a 5a fuse initially without a problem but then swapped it to a 3a just to be safe.
