The official Ps3 thread

I can't decide whether i want to keep my pre-order... the fact that i will be getting Casino Royale and Xmen 3 on Blu-ray for free is tempting me, but then i wont be able to afford the HDTV i want for another 2-3 months! Also if i do keep the PS3, i won't be able to use it (or my Xbox 360) until i actually buy the HDTV... but then by that time, the HDTV will probably be about £100 cheaper ><

I suppose i could just wait until after exams in June, then buy the HDTV. In fact that's a great idea, saves me money and prevents me from playing games before the exams. Thanks, me. :o

as to what each is offering, I do take all of those things into account but I also buy a console for the long term and not just for the games out today. I do know what you are saying though (mainly because you have already said it a thousand times before) and yes the 360 has a bigger catalogue of games out for it at present, but it's still nice to chat about things to come on each console and where better to chat about the potential power of the PS3 than on the official PS3 thread???

Joebob i dont think you did understand what i was saying, yeah you seen an attack at PS3 again is all. Without you thinking its yet again some attack on Sony im merely trying to point out its hardly advisable to read too much into some yobs PR attempt to show the PS3 as a very futureproof machine with yet even more amazing potential. If anything kotaku takes the **** outta Sonys PR or general promition stuff all the time sometimes rather harshly covering many other issues regarding the machine, their non biased.

Throwing percentages around isnt realistinc cos then you get someone thinking gees look at Motorstorm its only using 20% of PS3 that means the game could be 5x more incredible, wow man.
Its all blurb to help promote the machine and giving the "more long term investment" speech only to help justify its high price as value in the long run.
Nothing worng with promoting a product or your business partners but i read it clearly as sales pitch, then again ive been in sales for most of my life, perhaps i see it more.

Personally though i dont wait 2 years for a console and buy it cos i know its going to have games like GT5 probably in winter 2008. No id get it to get my mits on it to have the experience ive waited long for and then enjoy whatever game it had at the time of purchase. Games usually sell systems, not blurb on % of power and petty talk of what tomorrow brings.

While we think it's a bit to early to call this one, Blu-ray is clearly gaining a bit of global momentum (thanks to the PS3). The full article is worth a read, but here's a hodge-podge of the story's best quotes, conveniently strung together and presented completely out-of-context:

"It's never been a question of if Blu-ray will pass HD DVD, but a matter of when. It's safe to buy Blu-ray players without fear they'll end up being sold as relics on eBay. Retailers will pull the plug on HD DVD sometime next year. "

Owning players for both formats, I don't really care who wins... though I do prefer Blu-ray's ability to play uncompressed PCM audio. That stuff sounds amazing!

Iv just put my pre-order in my 1 of my local stores paid £100 deposit and ill be picking mine up midnight next thursday :)

£500 all in which comes with MotorStorm and Resistance Fall of Man

Just had a bash on Motorstrom and its amazing on there demo pod

Is it? Ooooh, I'm gonna have to give it a download. I hope Sony increase the number of demo's n movie trailers etc on the PS Store, MS seem to have about 10 times the content on marketplace!!!
 
What are the chances of being able to pick up a PS3 on launch day without queuing at midnight or having pre-ordered one. Will there be stock left at 4pm on the Friday evening?

well some places are saying they have filled their allocated pre-order quota and some places still have plenty left with less than a week until launch. Chances are that some people will cancel their pre-orders and with the amount of consoles Sony have manage to roster up for the euro launch I really don't think you will have a problem tbh.
 
I'm so very tempted to get one, and seeing them in shops will probably help make my mind up. The PS2 was massive..and had MANY great games for it, i just see Sony/developers doing the same thing. Wouldn't wanna miss out.
 
Anybody know what is going to be available on the PS store on friday ie GTHD, f1 demo ? I have looked at the US PS Store seems to be some good stuff on there.
