***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

I sent mine back to the shop for a refund.

its either my motherboard or a bad clocker but i just dont have the time to figure that out lol

i will have to do with my core2duo @3.7ghz for now... dam, in windows though that quad sure speeds up windows functionality. :P

gameing at the mo though sucks.

wierd thing is with the quad in my system my superpi scores where higher than with the core2duo i had perviously installed. :P

I will probably buy another one in the future say 1 months time when someone is selling a garanteed clocker :)

Just lapped my q6600 and noctua cooler (the tt 120 extreme ultra will arrive this weekend) and I'm running it at stock tommorrow, will have a go overclocking tommorrow.

temps at stock:

42/42/37/37 idle
52/52/48/48 full load

not too bad I'm thinking? Going to get some yate loons to slap on the extreme ultra and give clocking a go :)

Batch is L726A977

Moved over to the tuniq now (the fan on the lowest setting as i want max quiet oc)
3.6ghz @ 1.39v set, 1.34-5 quad load
temps are 56/56/53/53, been priming for an hour now :)

*edit*

Sorry to sound like a fool

But how do you get the seperate threads in prime like that?

I always thought you had to have multiple instances of it running

Have to say, these chips run far cooler than the B3s! Glad I made the impulse buy today! Cores 0 and 1 seem run about 6-7C warmer however than 2 and 3. Heatsink is on tight, Ill have a look inside tommorrow.

I posted another thread actaully, slightly worried that I had 6'c difference between Cores 1,2 and Cores 3,4 but it seems to be the norm.

Ah it's been updated again, thanks for the link.

Read this on another forum:

Can anyone confirm this to be the case still? If it is I wonder if some people are testing properly?

If you have overclocked your machine, I recommend running the torture test for a couple of days. The longer you run the torture test the greater the chance that you will uncover an error caused by overheating or overstressed memory.
Hehe and theres me thinking 24hours is enough ;):D

Thats far to long mate, if it don't crash in 8 to 12 hrs, I can't see it crashing with normal use. All four cores in gaming and encoding should be fine.

Lol someone is late to the party!

Easy on the spam! :D

Yeah sorry about that ;)

I don't seem to be having too much luck tbh, just to be the exception to the rule I have a G0 that doesn't seem to want to clock, just my luck

Interesting as I'm seeing that as well.

I think I might be in the same boat but how do you return for a refund, it works just doesn't clock?

Obviously your not aware when someone is having a laugh!

btw: Did you enable that option called *Round Off Checking*?

OPPPs sorry, twas after 3am in the morning, and my mind was in "Overdrive".

Believe me after your post I did check, and the option was ticked.

Just going to finish my 48 hour prime, and try for 3.7 :P

P.S. I did have a sense of humour, but that was 35 years ago before I got married
