Just so i get this right, do you guys mean placing the washer between the metal plate and the top of the block? Basically raising the whole thing enabling me to tighten the screws a bit more before reaching the end?

Also, how much of a difference to temps would it make if i added another 120mm fan to the ultra? Is there a good way of doing that considering they only provided one set of braces?

Yes m8 that's where it goes.....extra fan maybe 1-2c.

Not bad, I guess people would expect more from you? Still good going considering you had the chip no time at all.

Do u consider that a downgrade to your E6400 @ 3.8GHz then? ;) :p

Well I was straight in @ 3.6ghz and intend to go higher due to the low temps.

Vcore is 1.45 too so I'm hoping there is more in this chip.

Did you think I was going to leave it at 3.6ghz?

You are mistaken lol;)

No the 8mb cache abd the two extra cores win over 200 MHZ lol.

Although Quad 3.8ghz will be nice if I can get it stable.

More testing will follow.

I tried a washer, it didn't work very well. I ended up getting a nice thick self adhesive hard felt pad from B&Q, cut to size 40mmx50mm. Its not just increasing the pressure, its giving some friction and stops it turning. The second fan is worth 2C, I use mine in steps. First one runs to say 40C, then the second one kicks in, so its silent most of the time. Just use 4 long zip ties, through the first across to the second. Another tip is to seal up the sides to stop the air leaking, helps a bit more.

My Q6600 G0 came today, Been messing around with it for the past hour.Runs pretty hot:(Found the sweet spot of 3.4Ghz atm @ 1.45v, Any lower on the vcore and it fails prime in a matter of seconds. My temps using a Zalmans 9700 with fan at 2000rpm are 62-62-65-67 using coretemp 0.95.4 after 30mins of prime.I can't see myself getting much more out of this chip without nuking it in the process:(

I can however get the 4Ghz money shot:p
