***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

CPU-Z is showing more than 1.39 under load so I dont know where you are getting 1.39v from
Cpu-z can't read voltages on this mobo for crap. It reports 0.9v when i set 1.25v in the bios with SS off, for example.
I know where i am getting 1.39v from as that is set in the bios right now.

Help!!!

I'm at 3800, 1.47 real for 30 mins prime

core temps 66 66 62 63

CPU Temp 70-74

So I stopped it.
Whats causing my high temps?

D-tek fuzion water block, single rad, swiftech mini res, and the pump I don't know the make of, 400 l-ph

If I changed the pump to a swiftech 1200 l-ph, would this help a lot bringing the cpu temps down.

I tried a big house fan pointing into the case, and it made no difference.

So what is it?

Pump?
Rad?

Pump and rad by the sounds of things, you might want to pick up a DDC 18w or DDC ultra and a dual or tri fan radiator. :)

Swiffy's MCR and Thermochill's PA range are the top two. :)

I was hoping just one of them, if I need both, then the wife say's "I must get a job", so I guess I will be stuck at 3.6 :(

Well it's a start..

could someone make a table up?

maybe the first post?

juat so its a lot easier to view the information and then we can tell at whit clockspeed you need which volts roughly

Yeah, good idea. A table with cpu speed, ram frequency, timings, voltage, temps, cooling.

Priming at 3.8ghz @ 1.55v Temps seems ok and I'm posting this while priming so touch wood it will be stable.

Nice. What are your other settings that you're using for you mobo if you don't mind me asking. I'm completely new to this Intel overclocking malarky after years with AMD so would apprecicate some pointers or at least a starting point. Cheers :)

My Q6600 G0 came today, Been messing around with it for the past hour.Runs pretty hot:(Found the sweet spot of 3.4Ghz atm @ 1.45v, Any lower on the vcore and it fails prime in a matter of seconds. My temps using a Zalmans 9700 with fan at 2000rpm are 62-62-65-67 using coretemp 0.95.4 after 30mins of prime.I can't see myself getting much more out of this chip without nuking it in the process:(

I can however get the 4Ghz money shot:p

Which motherboard is that sniper?

I've got a similar upgrade coming in on monday with OCZ pc6400 and zalman 9700.

Are the temps better if you use the cooler at full pelt?

Can't say I'd take much notice of bios values either, mine under reads by 0.03v. Use a multimeter to varifiy the accuracy for 'actual' real values.

I reseated my Tuniq Tower 120 and things might me looking up, the maximum difference in core temps is now about 4 or 5 degrees, before it was nearly 10!

Currently running @ 9 x 380 (3420), highest temp is 61 degrees (1.36v as measured by CPU-z)

Whats the stock cooler on these quads like?

Is it same as other core 2 duos?

can anyone post a pic plz.

So much better than I was getting, still priming just passed 1024k on all 4 cores.

Gah, doesn't have similar settings to the IP35 Pro does it....:D Just trying to work out exactly what all these voltage settings do and which are actually beneficial...

So far I've only touched cpu vcore, the more 'xtreme' your overclock the more use they are to you.

For anything to around 3.8-4ghz on a g0 quad with a good board i would say only cpu vcore would need to be changed.
My P5K Deluxe isn't the same however, needs a small FSB Termination voltage bump to get my x3210 stable.

that cooler is useless though, at 3ghz 1.41V through my e4300 i was getting 80C at load. Its not the contact as i've checked that fine.

I wonder how it cools the quads.
