*** The Official Rugby World Cup 2015 Thread ***

Bbc news reporting that it's been stated by the rfu that joubert got it wrong. So that's twice now he's cost a European team a major game against a southern hemisphere team. I honestly can't believe he wasn't booted after the 2011 cup final tbh.

Just to confirm Dis86's post above the statement from World Rugby which "clarified the decision" by Craig Joubert. I like the slightly euphemistic idea of clarifying the decision, not actually declaring it to be wrong in so many words though. This is all very nice but I'm more interested in what happens next, the decision was made and whether the review declared it wrong or not is slightly beside the point because it's done.

Please do tell me that isn't the full review and whatever Scotland fans did or did not do is being considered as well as whether the late tackle on Hogg was worthy of citing too plus any of the other questionable incidents?

The trouble is though, and it's been remarked on a few times that there appears to be an obvious bias towards southern hemisphere teams by a couple of refs. So much so that the commentators have started talking about whether nz would get punished for it as being the measure of something so significant it can't be ignored.

Out of interest, has the late tackle player been cited by the RFU or not?
Is it seen as a late tackle or not by the Rugby authorities?

I've seen nothing about it at all? Correct me if I am worng, but I get the feeling everyone (apart from Scotland) want to put that game as far behind them as possible...

Right, so we have Ben Kay and Ian McGeechan (who has already stated his support for SL - so how can he be independent?) both in the England review panel, but World Cup-winning coach Clive Woodward is omitted? What a load of bull...

I never watch Rugby but really enjoyed Sunday's game.

Shame for my home nation but really... all they had to do was win a lineout and hold on to the ball. We can say what we want about the ref but it was our bad play that caused the penalty. It wasn't the first line out we lost either and the restarts were awful. Even me as a total rugby novice could see the bad plays.

Australia got off with a poor performance and if they don't turn up against Argentina they'll be out.

Even with a guy who supports him, I can't see a result which is any thing other than Lancaster going.

I just don't know why they are not taking on board feedback from the only coach of any northern hemisphere team to have ever won the world cup? Surely he has the most input, the best views on a total review of the English team set-up... ?

I'm worried the grey haired old farts at the top just replace Lancaster and change nothing else...

semi-pro you're an absolute Gent and fine example of all the excellent Scottish fans I've met over the years and a great example of what's good about Rugby even in this current morass of what can be bad about it. If I'm ever next to you at a game I'll buy you a pint ;)

There is a hint of manufacturing a decision about the enquiry board, the only thing I hope is the 5 members have been chosen because they represent a broad sweep of opinion over SL's future and they can debate it out.

The problem is Sir Clive and the RFU just don't get on, so he'll never be called on.

All people ask is for consistency with the officials so that potential wrong decisions dont affect the outcome of a match and this morass situation stops happening.

Craig Joubert has previous history to making bad decisions.

It has been a great world cup and im looking forward to the two semi-finals.

Which is just the kinda BS that winds me up, politics, ego, pride whatever getting in the way of doing what is best for players / team / country.

Just because you don't like someone does not mean you can't learn from them...
