That CPW deal is BS. I have a S7 edge which should have got £330 as working condition.

The idiot manager in the Birmingham fort carphone warehouse branch considered it as non working because it had one small scratch which he says is a deep cut.

I told him on your website it just says no cracks or chips. He said we have our own guidelines.

Load of ****, not sure whether to ring CPW and complain or try another branch.

Wasted full hour of my time.

I popped in 2 CPW stores today

What I found out is be careful with taking out a contract to get the £200 and then cancelling within 14 days as both shops said they can request the £200 back as its due to a promotion and keeping the contract full term

Might be worth getting a firm answer from CPW who ever is doing it

What contract? There is no contract.

Good luck requesting back the £200 already paid into your account.

Complete BS from some stores it looks like. Go online.

I went to another store and the lovely girls just turned it on and checked the IMEI number.

Got my full £330 off, so altogether £569 sim free with a wireless charger stand.

To save anyone else some time here's the total money off for the phones in the deal:

Note 2 = £220
Note 3 = £225
Note 4 = £250
Note 5 32GB = £270
Note 8 64GB = £575
S7 32GB = £320
S7 Edge = £330
S8 64GB = £430
S8 Plus 64GB = £465
iPhone 6s 16GB = £285
iPhone 6s Plus 16GB = £330
iPhone 7 32GB = £400
iPhone 7 Plus 32GB = £425
iPhone 8 64GB = £530
iPhone 8 Plus 64GB = £550
Google Pixel = £340
Google Pixel XL = £370
Google Pixel 2 = £480
Google Pixel 2 XL = £550

So what are people actually paying in store @ CPW the full reduced or pre trade in price

I paid the reduced price in store, so basically got my £330 off my S7E thus paying £569 in store. They just got the IMEI and had a quick look at it.

Guess it may depend how friendly your local CPW store is!

My local store initially told me that they'd need to take my Note 8 there and then or I had to pay the full price and get the £575 when I traded in. I spoke with the manager and he then looked at giving me a loan phone for a couple of weeks but as he couldn't give me anything decent he just told me to keep my 8 but still deducted the £575.

They have the option to let you keep your old phone till the note 9 is collected.

The problem we are having is that trade-in's must now be ran through a diagnostics machine which may pick up an issue like battery cycle count and that'll mean 'non-working' condition price.

Some stores however don't care and will trade-in anything.

3 stores near me have all stated it will have to be tested 1st , So I'd have pop it in tomorrow get them to check before I cancel my Samsung order

As I've pre ordered online & have requested to collect in store on 24th August I assume I will have to trade in online.
Theres nothing on the email I received when ordering & the full £899 was taken from my account today.

Reading the t&c it says you can only do one or the other, if you order online you can't trade in at the local store & vice versa.

So if you go into the store with the phone you're trading in, they will test it and give you the money off if you order then and there? You can leave them the trade in phone and collect the Note9 on release?

Yep. They may even allow you to keep the phone you're trading in until the 24th too. They've let me anyway.

they must have to examine the phone again surely to make sure its not been damaged in the interim?

They offered this option to me and I set nah, take the phone because I didn't want any hastle on pickup or risk of me dropping and damaging the phone.

So I'm using my backup phone for a week which feels really strange.
