****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

"Normal" people don't even know about Jelly Bean, anyone on this forum is intelligent enough to download a ROM and Odin, put the phone in download mode, connect it, close kies.exe in task manager if it's open, open Odin then click PDA and choose the ROM and press start.

If people don't want to use Odin that's fine, but complaining about it when Samsung have gave us everything we need to update safely and easily is just pointless imo :).

Edit: I'll add this back in since I was right the first time. Odin was made by Samsung :).

Okay I'm wrong on Odin I didn't know that. Regardless though I shouldn't have to mess around with it. They haven't given us everything we need otherwise I wouldn't need to complain :p

I just hate Kies really, it's a horrible PoS that's probably worse than iTunes was at release (it's been a while since I used it so I may be wrong, but I don't remember it being as bad as Kies :p), Samsung should be ashamed that they made such terrible software :p.

eh, my S2 is branded and I have 4.1.2 it's just the branding is crappy trial apps and vodafone's terrible shops. You can un-install the trials and disable the shops though if you want to stay stock.

My friend is currently on Gingerbread with her GS2, she is on Orange but wants to update. I have installed JB for two of my friend's GS2s but remember it being at absolute pickle initially though both ended up fine. Can someone please recommend a JB ROM that is a doddle to install (phone will be basic so not rooted etc) and use (e.g. don't need one with loads of developer options etc.). Thanks.

Just download the stock (unbranded) one and flash via Odin?

Edit: Latest stock one can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487 :).

XWLSD is the same as XWLSE other than Russian ****, I'd just flash XWLSD, the polish one (XXMS1) is supposed to be slightly behind XWLSD:

This means that from an evolution perspective MS1 is somewhere in between LS8 and LSD. Not purely from the changelist point of view, but from the code itself. And it's very close to LS8, not so much to LSD.

Well, I have now been running the Omega JB ROM for a week and it is a complete revelation... buttery smooth and my battery now last friggin ages... it is literally 2x better (no exaggeration) than it was on ICS, and my phone is now crazy responsive. It has breathed new life in to my phone and I highly, highly reccommend it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489197

Sound's awesome.

When the Galaxy Nexus got JB is was a massive step over ICS for speed and smoothness.
