***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

this phone will be held back because the SGS2 is selling like hot cakes, they would be nuts to release just yet, i reckon June/July time

I think it could be even later than that, the S2 was announced by Samsung in February 2011 and released in May 2011 but it didn't come out in the US September 2011.
Im sure ive read some where that they are going to a world wide launch this time and with sales of the S2 still good that could be the anniversary of the US launch so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see it until September.

I think they are going to have to release around the same time as the One X (April?) to stop people going for that.

They've already left it too late for that really. Unless they announce it within a week and get it out within a week of the announcement.

A lot of people are going to get the One X; yes, the people in the know will wait for the S3, but that isn't many people!

I thought they'd use it to push TVs, after all thats what Joe public will be using to watch the Olympics with ?

That too but a muscle bound superphone that updates the hugely popular and two times phone of the year S2 is an even bigger deal TBH and being shown off at the Olympics means it fits right in with everything athletic and powerful and as that blog mentioned, it will get even more exposure than the S2 did as countless billions of people will be watching the Olympics around the globe.

It also ties in with what Samsung said about them wanting a simultaneous worldwide release this time round.

I was thinking of getting a Galaxy Note because it's a laptop replacement and is also portable.

The question is should I hold back for a S3 or still go with the Note?

They've always said they will announce the S3 nearer its release, so they aren't too late as long as the release date is around the same time as the One X.

i would agree with Mrk, they will have it out for the Olympics as its free world wide advertisement if Samsung have already paid up to be a partner, just think they are hanging on for a bit due to the SGS2 sales

I don't think the One X will make Samsung raise an eyelash on their eyebrows :p

Why? The Sensation wasn't particularly great and is still very popular, if people are looking to upgrade from the Desire they may easily go for the One X.

None of this applies to people like us, but we don't count for the majority of the sales. Samsung will care about that.

I think they are probably hoping to wait until the Olympics but their hand is going to be forced by HTC.
