***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Haha, fair one. Only flash mem I have bought for ages is a Vita one. 28 for 16gb!

Have a look at recent phones coming to the market, there all going this way. Iphone, HTC, Nexus....

Don't see the need for much more than 32GB anyway.

Well plenty of people want more space to store media without being reliant on the speed and allowance of your data connection when on the move.

Iphone has always been this way due to the sealed back and so they can then skim another £100 to go from 16 to 32gb rather than users paying a tenner for a microsd card.

HTC haven't been making good phones recently, and the nexus is a phone crippled by samsung to prevent it competing with their high-end offerings.

One of those looks a lot like the phone pictured in Samsung's CES video, which was rumoured to be the S3, although at the time it looked like a render.

If we look at the galaxy note, this could have been samsungs attempt to find out how the market would respond to a S3 with large screen - it's a small amount bigger and better than the S2, whereas the S3 will be a large amount better in each of the same ways.

Yup, all the current top end mobiles have more than enough power to last for the next year or 2 especially the GS 2. There isn't one thing that I can think of which the GS2, nexus etc. struggle with or show significant slow downs in. In a year, gaming might require more powerful GPUs to run at max settings smoothly.

The only areas that need to be worked on the most (IMO) is the battery life (granted quad will help this, but I mean a lot more than a few hours, as in an extra few days under medium usage or wireless charging), software and to cut the fragmentation out.

Screens have kind of reached their limit/wow factor now as well IMO, yeah you could go higher res. like 1080 for the next gen, but what is the point for a device that has a 4.7" screen or smaller. Quality wise, they are already great, the SAMOLED+, new IPS displays that are being used on HTC's new mobiles etc. The only better tech. they could use is OLED (but that will add a very large price tag to the mobiles and again isn't really worth it on a smallish screen size). Bring on the holograms! :D :p

The main good thing going from the GS 2 to the GS 3 (judging from the 'supposed' specs) is going to be the screen, everything else will be an upgrade obviously but not enough of an upgrade/noticeable improvement to have that WOW factor like it was when we went from the likes of a desire to the GS 2.

I won't be able to use most of my apps without root because I will want to restore all settings via Titanium otherwise it's major faff going through all apps and reconfiguring them since Market doesn't restore settings (yet).

I guess root will be available before launch.

Business as usual then.

True.

Hence the S3! If you could touch focus during video recording that would be the best thing ever. The S2 camera is amazing and could easily output high quality video suitable enough for amateur production if only you could manually focus.

We may just get the A15's and Mali T-604 MP4:

^ The S4 Snapdragon is really a game changer.

The Exynos 5210/5250 could be used for a summer release, here's why....

  • Samsung have been 'billy best mates' with ARM since Apple's Intrinsity acquisition in early 2010 (Company that did the A4/hummingbird SoC and cortex A8 modifications, no more chip designs from them... :p)
  • Exynos 5 is nearly all stock ARM IP. In return for using Mali GPUs they got Little.Big architecture early (might even be a colab?)
  • They recently added a "1.7GHz" variant to the product page, that would slip in nicely above all H2 S4 Snapdragons.
  • Cheaper Exynos 4 SoCs will cover the rest of Samsung's v.large product range from 1080p tablets (quad core 4412) to mid-high range phones (dual core)
  • Samsung and Intel are the only ones that design and manufacture chips. With all that control Samsung should be owning the market by now.
