***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

He's not complaining, I'm "setting it up" for him, these things take....."time" ;)##BTW, he got it for £26 a month on T-Mobile. Handset was free. The operator lady on the phone said he was one of the first people on the network to get his apparently.

Great review Mrk, thanks for posting. If your dad reads it he'll know what you've really been up to.

wtf just got this email.

Dear Mr Spook

We’re really sorry, but because your new phone is currently out of stock, we’ve had to change your delivery date to 08/06/2012 .You’ll receive a text on the day to confirm what time it’ll arrive and includes an option to change the delivery date if you’re not going to be in to receive your parcel.

Thanks

The Three Team

Cheers :p I think he has an idea anyway as he's read my Lifehacker article and stuff in the past anyway :D

Edit*
Some good news too, My dad has said I can pick his S2 up off him tomorrow and use that so I can send my S2 off to recycling so I'm not losing any money on it. Awesome! Now to see if Nandroid backups truly do work across phones!

I'm not getting any key-tap vibrations and sounds when typing, even when they are ticked. Anyone experiencing this?

I've already factory reset the device.

There were 40+ in stock at Oxford Street Centrepoint and 120+ at the big Oxford Street one near John Lewis. Surprised it took until 5pm before it all sold out!

Great post mrk - very informative - I also hate the lack of brightness adjuster in the status bar - I use that a lot.

I went into Westfield Stratford today at round 6.30pm and a Samsung guy had a blue one on him but with no battery in it - he gave it to me to have a look and to my amazement it looked seriously better than when I saw it in Westfield - West London last tuesday.

White looked ok - but not for me.

I also noticed it had the microstutter like the S2 when scrolling very slowly - tested when scrolling through the market apps (after everything had loaded).

Big pics below:

It looked a lot more like this:

than it did this:

Even under bight lights - a real mind ***k.

Is there anywhere still doing good deals for this, like free SD card etc? or offering it for 500 in store so I can walk in tomorrow?

Also what was this mention of 3 and throttling their data?

I was looking to hold out until the end of june, but the thread just got serious...

3 stuff - If you're in the top 5% of users (I speculate this is roughly >3gb PCM) you get throttled for being a bad boy.

Ah right, so it would generally be heavy teathering and stuff like that?

O2 are alright, but their data is absolutely naff on the train. There's a deadzone too on the way to work, then in a certain part in the city.

Congrats to all you lucky owners of the new S3.

Thank you for your thoughts and pics mrk.

I held a demo white S3 today for an extremely brief amount of time today before heading into London.

Soooo comfortable to hold. Much more comfortable to hold than the One X (not to say that the One X was uncomfortable, but the S3 did fit into my small hands nicely - definitely more comfortable than the S2).

Smooth. Very. But I expect that after playing about with the S2.

And I thought it looked great. Not White One X pretty but nonetheless a good looking phone. I think the curves and thinness was a great factor in that regard. But hey, I never thought it was ugly. I'm the odd one who actually prefers the look of the white S3 but is still going to wait for the Blue. Although with this delay, my brother's particularly smug as he told me to order the white one when it was announced - he's happy with his S2 and doesn't see a need to buy the S3.

All in all, I'm keeping my Blue pre-order as is. But Samsung messed up badly with the blue S3. I'm kind of hoping for another company *cough*LG, Sony*cough* to step in and make an announcement about their new flagship with timings.

I'm a simple person to keep happy:

as powerful (or there abouts) as the new flagships (One X/S and S3)
microSD expansion
loads of battery life/removable battery
(slider QWERTY would be awesome too but I doubt I'll see that again)

I don't care about branding. Just deliver me a good spec phone with the above.

p.s. If anybody is watching episode 4 of the new series of QI soon (letter J) I will be part of the audience laughing :D Stephen Fry is truly awesome. Tim Vine's puns were a little cringy at times though but a fantastic show today. Alan Davies and the joke pen is definitely a must see moment. And the poo... that was 'ewww' worthy.

I'm trying to find the best way to export my iTunes playlists to the handset? One thing I loved about iTunes Match was that any playlists I edit on any of my Apple devices would be synchronised with each other. I will not be moving from iTunes for the foreseeable future as I use it daily and I still have my iPad, and I don't fancy just dragging my whole music album onto the phone/SD card storage, then recreating all my playlists on the handset.

Now I know it won't be a 2-way thing with playlist edits on the handset being synced back to iTunes, but how would I go about getting Samsung Kies to import my playlists from iTunes? The File>Import iTunes playlist to library does nothing. With my Nokia Lumia 800 and Zune software, I was able to import playlist M3U files I exported from iTunes. So something like that would be perfect.

Haptic feedback needs to be on as well as keypress vibrate IIRC, it's not on by default in the ROM I have.

Cool thanks for that. Need to play around with the settings a bit more. The way I had it set up on my 4S was I had the lock screen and keyboard typing sounds on, but other things like menu selections and keypad tones off.
