***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I was looking at your photo's again thinking, goddamn the white picks up dirt fast, sheesh!! moved in for a closer look, suffice to say I've just cleaned my monitor, thanks for your pics and the cleaning opportunity.

Glad to be of service. :D

Anyone else think this has been one huge con because they seriously overestimated the popularity of white as a colour and therefore had to make sure they sold their stock by making the blue not available for a few weeks...? :p

Actually, if this was planned then I have to applaud Samsung. A white phone is much more prominent in a sea of black phones. When people are using their white HTC One X or white S3, you'll definitely have a lot more glances their directions.

A white phone advertises the handset a lot more effectively then any darker colour and by delaying the blue version on purpose would force people who were originally 'on the fence' about the colour choice to simply get the white version. After all they weren't fussed originally.

Plus you'll receive news coverage about shortages but can still sell your product line and meet the launch deadline in part.

But I doubt Samsung was thinking that. They just rather have a delay in the blue version than hear the uproar from people about the blotches on the back cover.

Thanks for the cat pics, just what I was looking for.

Can someone compare the web browsing with the S II if at all possible? - I doubt it is that much better, but still!

Has anyones Vodafone Micro Sim activated yet? Mine hasn't :( is there a quicker way of doing it by any chance?

Yup, did you ring up and ask them to activate it? The card with the sim said it was ready to go but the invoice that came with mine said ring them with phone number and sim number. I rang them and it was done in a couple of hours.

I tried doing it over live chat earlier, he took the sim number etc.. he said it had been updated on the system, just that I might have to wait a few hours... That was at about 3pm though:(

Web browsing is faster, pages render as fast as a desktop browser (Chrome/Firefox etc) whereas the S2 is fast but rendering requires a few seconds of think time at the start.

It's difficult to put a number to it though because the S2 is quite a bit faster than most other phones for web browsing and the S3 is even better.

Great post mrk - you must be glad to finally sample the S3
Cheers all! Yeah it is nice to finally see what the fuss is all about! A few things I don't like out the box but as mentioned, those are no issue for me as I always install a custom ROM anyway to fix them :)

Great post mrk - very informative - I also hate the lack of brightness adjuster in the status bar - I use that a lot.

I went into Westfield Stratford today at round 6.30pm and a Samsung guy had a blue one on him but with no battery in it - he gave it to me to have a look and to my amazement it looked seriously better than when I saw it in Westfield - West London last tuesday.

White looked ok - but not for me.

I also noticed it had the microstutter like the S2 when scrolling very slowly - tested when scrolling through the market apps (after everything had loaded).

Big pics below:

It looked a lot more like this:

than it did this:

Even under bight lights - a real mind ***k.

I noticed that there is some microstutter if power savings mode is enabled and the screen/cpu control is ticked. I assume this is because the clock is not maxing out and the screen power is limited so not responding as fast as it would on full whack with power savings off.

Although the 2nd time I turned it on it was fine. Basically seems like a scaling trait just like on custom ROMs on the S2 where you use CPU scaling apps to control MHz at various speed and some work, some don't to everyone's tastes.

I don't think I will be using power savings mode anyway on mine.

Me and my GF got our s3's this morning and I am very impressed, I'm coming from an S2 and her from a 4s, I love everything about it and she keeps complaining that it doesn't do what she wants but is slowly getting the hang of things like making folders and other things,

It is so much more responsive than my s2, and the screen is amazing, I gotta agree that it's better than the S2 in every single way

One thing I've forgot to check when setting up a renewal with T-Mobile was the inclusion of a micro sim card. Would I be naive to assume that T-Mobile would know to ship a micro sim with the phone?

I've had my Galaxy Note for a few months now and I've said many times - I don't think I can ever go back to a smaller screen, but the S3 has REALLY tempted me. I'm just glad this is my wifes so I have it here whenever I want really. I've been 'setting it up' all day for her, the user experience is just something else. My cousin who has pre-ordered blue is holding tight for it, he was quite simply blown away, he's coming from a Desire HD.

Received my voda micro aim along with my s3 today - activated by the time I'd finished setting the phone up. Must say I'm blown away with vodas data speeds. When comparing to t-mobile its like switching from 56k to adsl
:D
anyway hope yours gets activated soon mate
