***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Received mine today, currently halfway through the 14hr charge. Not sure if that is strictly necessary with modern battery types but I'm going to play it safe. Little surprised how big it is compared to my Desire HD which isn't small itself (4.3" vs 4.8") and people have talked a lot about how small the bezel is. More the length than anything.

Looking forward to the smooth scrolling as I've noticed my wife's Galaxy S is smoother than my DHD.
 
I'm going to check out Beautiful Widgets soon, two other questions (so far :p)... first is how do you change which shortcuts are shown on the lock screen? The other is how do I get contact pictures to load? I've linked some to facebook and synced so I assumed they would just appear automatically...


The phone is just stunning overall though, everything is so slick to use. Me and my dad are blown away by how good the screen is. :cool:

And that doesnt effect what I'm saying. Apex is just as smooth as TW for me, but since you're the chap that cant seem to see the blatant similarity in shape with the S3 and Nexus I'd not worry too much about your percieved stuttering :)
 
Okay definitely gonna go look at getting one tomorrow. Is it best to go cpw rather than the three store to get unbranded? Also is it worth going into tmob store to see if they want to give me a good upgrade deal before I do?

Is it possible to order online n go pick up from store the same day or have to be delivered? N finally, to anyone that's seen blue in the flesh, it worth waiting on or just go for white? :)

Three refuse to sell the handset alone, so not much point in going there. It's always worth going and seeing what upgrades you can get, if you don't like any then you can just go with the original plan.

I don't think you can order online and pick it up the same day, you'll have to chance it with them having stock :(.

Chipworks has confirmed that the camera has a Sony BSI sensor, and that's it's basically the same unit found in the iPhone 4S.

The button will no doubt come off but the front glass is fused to the frame so you'd have to buy the screen made for the black model which chipworks notes, will cost more to replace as you can't just get the screen itself.

Given that a standard smartphone screen can be bought for around £35 I imagine an entire screen replacement for the S3 might cost up to £100 given the nature of it...maybe.

At least one thing is for sure, unlike other phones, when you replace the S3 screen, you know you won't get dust between the front glass and the screen itself!
