***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Received my nice shiny new SIII today in Blue. Got a cracking deal from Phones4U certainly a lot better than going direct with O2. Just waiting for O2 to get there arses in gear now and sort out my O2SimSwap as this Galaxy takes micro sims. Been 4 hours now since they killed my old sim and still nothing on my new one... Coming from a HTC desire Z this phone is very light and thin and obviously FAST!!

Can't format it as my card reader can't read it hence the new reader purchase.

I imagine the s2 should read it once formatted to fat32 though but I have no way of doing this until my new reader arrives!

I'll try seeing if an Acer laptop I have kicking around reads UHS cards, it's only a year old.

OK - How gay. So it's the UHS part that causing the S2 to not see it. Seems strange, should be backwards compatible. Class 6 cards work ok, as said by others.

Does it give the option in the S3 to format it to fat32?

Well yes for me personally it would bother me untold but im a guy who buys his phones then sells them when newer models come out. I dont keep any of my old phones barring an old 9000 Blackberry Bold which i keep as a back up if any of my latest BB's need to go off for repair.

But like i said if your not bothered by it then fair enough...for me knowing its there would annoy me untold case or no case.

Then what would you suggest I do if they didn't have any to replace it with? Would you give it them back and say no thanks? :p

When I get something new, I will try my absolute hardest to keep it perfect, but as soon as I get one little scratch or crack, I'll instantly give up on caring for it. It was only a matter of time before something happened so I guess that's why it's not bothering me too much.

My phones usually end up lost or damaged so I never really get to sell them (iPhone 4 and 3GS have been on my desk for ages with cracked screens, etc. lol) :o

Surely can you not just put the card in your dad's GS 3 and then connect it to the PC and format it via the windows way (right click format)?

That is what I did with my spica and a Samsung 8GB class 6 (IIRC) SD card (except it was from FAT32 to NTFS).

Well it wouldnt hurt to ask would it??:p

Fair enough if it doesnt bother you lol...personally it would bother me if i got something cracked.

Anyone got any tips for taking quick pics on this? never really grated well with photography, even on a camera-phone.

Two scenarios really would be:

a quick snap seeing something interesting while out
Taking a decent snap of possibly a group of people? Whether they're aware of my presence or not is another story for another time :D

Try to compose your shots and hold it steady. In settings make sure that "anti-shake" is set. Pick a subject and experiment with it. Some more tips:

Scratch that, I now suspect that this SDXC card I've received may be faulty, I've tried it in the S3 and nothing, it doesn't even register, same thing that happens on the S2.

Sending back to Amazon I guess :/

Bad luck. It's not a fake is it?

Good news and bad news then. Shame as I now really want to know if it will work in my S2 without hassle. Cheers for testing.

Where are call settings on the s3?

On my note (ICS) it's menu > settings > call (under device)

On the s3, I don't see it?

Logic win from Samsung.

You can access the call settings on any custom skin through the dialer/phone app, be it sense, stock ICS etc. for android via that way as well as through the standard settings menu for all the phone related stuff (EDIT: Just having a look there, there isn't actually any "call settings" submenu setting on stock ICS for the GN, could have sworn there was , they had it for before ICS).......

Yeah yeah, I was referring to Samsung crazy thinking when they placed the call settings in the device settings in previous TW versions... so basically they have finally applied some logical thinking.
