***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

They tried to charge me £5 for a replacement,

Lol, that is what i was worried about. I guess it just depends on who you get when you go in there. This was a young chap who just grabbed the sim cutter and did it in 2 seconds. He also said that if it doesnt work he would just give me a free replacement ( it does work though, already tested it).

I think some people who work in these places are absolute jobsworths/idiots.

Absolutely it's a superb app. I have one complaint about the LED notification though. When the phone was put on charge last night the LED's so bright it lit up most of my bedroom and I couldn't sleep! I had to cover the LED just to so I could get back to kip! :o

Yah, the blue LED is pure evil.

Yep, it is insanely bright. What I have done is set the night hours so at least when I am sleeping it isn't like a lighthouse in my room :)

That's a good idea Mate how do you set the night hours? I haven't really had time to set my S3 up yet as I'm at work again but will do when I get home this evening.

Absolutely furious. My dad posted my S3 on Thursday lunchtime special delivery guaranteed next day by 1pm. Didn't arrive. Phoned up this morning and found out it was in the sorting office and I could collect it. Drove a 50mile round trip (got posted to my office), only to be told it was in a safe (being held for Monday delivery) and there were too many parcels in there to get mine.

Guaranteed next day delivery = receive it 4 days later*

*if it actually gets delivered on Monday

please do :)

Sure. :)

Here the ULTRA-noobs guide to rooting your Galaxy S3: ;)

(1) Download Odin3-v1.85 to your PC which is found at the bottom of this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27049363&postcount=2

(2) Download CF-Root-SGS3-v6.1 to your PC which is found at the top of this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27049380&postcount=3

(3) Those are the only 2 files I downloaded, unzip both. When extracted, in the Odin folder you should have 2 files, and in the CF Root folder you should have 1 file which looks like a zip file but if you check in properties it should show as a .tar file

(4) Your phone should not be connected to your PC yet

(5) Start up Odin3 v1.85

(6) Click the PDA button, which is located under the Bootloader button

(7) This opens up a box, all you need to do is locate and select the CF Root .tar file

(8) Turn your phone OFF.

(9) Hold Vol Down + Home + Power, it will ask you to cancel or continue, from memory you press the Vol Up button to continue.

(10) This will put the phone in 'download mode' it should say downloading...

(11) Connect your phone to your PC

(12) Make sure the Repartition is NOT checked (by default it should not be anyway)

(13) Click START

(14) Sit back and Wait for phone to reboot. Once done you can unplug from your PC, and thats it.

(15) Download 'Root Check Basic' which is a free app from Play Store, run it, and it will confirm that you have root access.

I take no responsibility if you BRICK YOUR SHINY S3 but I managed to do it safely so you should too. :p

No wiping.

Unrooting is simple enough, just flash a stock recovery image back then delete the cwm and superuser apps. On the S3 the root method modifies aspects of the stock kernel so the kernel is always default.

Be sure to run TriangleAway before doing the above as that will reset the flash counter that tells Samsung that things have been modified.

The modded camera is epic, pulls in so much details it's unreal.

Shame the sound doesn't pick up more bass...need to wait for VoodooSound mod to improve that I think.

The blue LED is not that bright at all, it's normal!

You guys and your white phones... :p

Right I have followed the above, clicked start which gives me this message :
