***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

where you get the beta from ? can't seem to find in the playstore?

Think im going to wait till voodoo is released before i root , thats the only thing that i really want to install that requires root, might try that modded camera app too , is it the one posted at XDA ? would it be any good for the average point and shoot taking pics of my kids type user like me ? :)

If impressing people with the incredible amount of detail at 1080P is your thing then yes!

Also remember to enable voice actions, you can take pictures by simply speaking to the phone during camera operation :p Ideal if you want to set up a group shot etc.

I also like the voice activated call answer/reject action, it enables the speakerphone if calls are answered using a voice action so when driving it's a big bonus.

the dev releasing this says it will only work with a deodexed rom,ive no idea what that is  :D

Im hoping it will work with a simple root and no need for a custom rom ?

Got mine at 11 this morning. LOVE IT! :D
I can't see this oily affect on the cover people are talking about...

There are couple of things which are annoying me though.
One, all the samsung apps on there and two the screen dims on the web browser and when playing the samsung video with the media player despite turning auto brightness off and putting it on the max setting...

I notice the oily back cover effect on mine but only when looking at it from an almost 90 degree angle under the warm yellow table clip lamp. Under normal daylight lamps or daylight outside, it's not there. Glaze effect :)

It works fine on stock ROM, just delete the .odex file when replacing the original camera apk and remember to set teh correct file permission (644 or, rwrr, aka: the same as everything else in /system/app).

Yeah after a blue one :)

I got mine from UR-mobile but not sure if they have any more stock. Mobilefun might do but they are marking it up an extra £45. Other than that, only traders on Amazon/ebay/Play that want £600+ have them i think.

Hmm I can't even find the system folder with that?! I found the files needed to replace in Astro but it wouldn't do it!

Edit : Found it but it keeps saying cannot be deleted/moved.

Also have root access via my pc and swiftp as well which is easier.

These two apps have their own brightness settings, try the menu in each of them.

I'm a bit of a n00b when it come to this sorta thing but I'm wanting the best out of my phone so I'm wondering a couple of things... 1. what does rooting offer if you're not looking to flash a custom ROM? & 2. do you think the paid for apps are worth it compaired to their free counterparts?

Ok i sussed it out, in ES File Explorer go to settings then under the heading 'Root settings' tick both Root Explorer and Mount File System. After I did that I was able to remove both the files, copy the new .apk across and set the permissions.

Uploading a video to youtube now...

The IQ easily surpasses my Flip camera, you are right about the sound though mrk. Bass where you at?!
