***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

it's still the best!

Have to disagree with that! :p

Think the actual design/looks of the GS 2 and most other mobiles is better IMO.

I think to look at it is nice (only from an angle though as looking straight at the back/front, it does look rather boring :p) and the "perceived quality" is obviously very good, but it is uncomfortable to hold due to it being a rectangle slab and the front of the device has sooooo much wasted space that could be used for a bigger screen (obviously this may be changed with the 5 as it will [should] have a 4" screen).

Chances are, that apple follow their trend of it being a scaled down iPad, then we can expect a dual core clocked a bit lower than the iPad3's, and similar graphics, again clocked lower or something. Probably a 4" screen with 720p so that apple can still claim to have the "best PPI" without actually pushing any boundaries. Then the usual refinements in battery life/camera/iOS6/etc.

Mostly like!

With the loss of Google maps I think they taken out more than they put it!

Don't worry, as someone else said here, they will just copy googles version and wack some name on it like iMaps :p and claim it to be their own ideas that brought everything together and then sue google for copying them and try to patent it :p :D

Sample from mine running FE01 camera firmware (Image ID in Exif = Camera FW version):

Galaxy S2
vs
Galaxy S3

The S3 one is more detailed, colours are a bit deeper. Both were set to auto ISO but the S3 chose iso200 while the S2 chose lower. Both were taken with the same exposure at 1/17s but the S2 one appears to have less contrast making shadows appear more washed out. Both had the same metering set (Matrix) and both were set to Superfine.

Also, even though the iso was higher on the S3, the S2 exhibits more image noise!

The ergonomical aspect of the iPhone 4 design has never once entered my mind really, the fairly small size of it means it's never been an issue. Anyone who finds it awkward to hold wouldn't be able to use a 4.3" phone as their hands must be tiny.

The iPhone 5 could be a different story but they could move towards an iPad style tapered back which would be interesting. Their designs are so good I can't imagine they'll make the mistake of releasing something that is difficult to hold or anything like that.

Anyway, enough about the iPhone, some of the fangirls in here don't consider it to be a phone so we'd better not talk about it too much... ;)

Hmm should have worded my post a bit better about the shape etc. :p

It isn't uncomfortable to hold as you said due to it's size it isn't a problem, however, at the same time it isn't "pleasing" to hold if you know what I mean :p

Will be interesting to see what they do come up with, hoping to see a design like one of the many mockups we have seen, where is it super thin and mostly screen based with some curves.

haha, suppose! :p :D

I don't consider the ip4s design to be the best, I find the back slab edges are to square and not enough round. Hurst's my hand.

The camera FW update seems to have fixed the bug where if you had anti shake ticked while filming video you couldnt take a photo aswell, seems to work fine now, any one else found bug fixes or changes with that new FW?

Likewise!

Obviously it's personal taste, that goes without saying. Just look at all the arguing in here over the blue and white phone models.

I struggle to believe it hurts your hand though, a tad uncomfortable if you have small hands perhaps, but the massively larger 4.8" screen phones aren't going to be great either in that case.

Just got my first proper smart phone! Had an iphone 4s for a month but it broke 2x so decided to give up for a while!

What are the must do changes/settings like battery %

Aye also indoors they both produce grainy images, this much is expected of virtually all smartphones though :p The benefit on the OneX and S3 or other newer handsets though is the HDR mode which produces smoother images in low light.
