***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Given how cheap SD cards are is there any logic in going for anything other than the 16gb version of the S3? I appreciate some epople may wish to expand up to 128gb but for most people it seems far more sensible to go 16gb and then upgrade with an SD card. The price differential between the 16gb and 64gb models is way more than the cost of a 64gb SD card.

Can anybody shed any light?

I'm using a class 6 iirc and it's absolutely fine, no slow downs or any issues. So I'd say a 16gb then 64gb card will be the best option unless you need truly daft amounts of space, even then if you really want to go nuts you can get an OTG cable and a flash drive.

Naturally the speed of a class 10 card will be fast enough not to notice any difference, I was merely giving a reason for the massive price difference :)

I doubt the price difference that the companies pay is anywhere near as large as what they charge us for the extra space. The higher memory phones must have a very nice profit attached to them! One more reason that I'm glad some manufacturers are still including memory card expansions!

Hi

When I take pictures they save to a folder called DCIM on my sd card.

What I need to know is , is it possible to take a picture and have it saved to a different folder on the sd card and then easily categorised in gallery to view?

For instance if I go on holiday I would like all pictures taken to be saved in there own folder so they can be found easily.

cheers:)

Sadly the only option from within the camera app itself is just to save them to the internal or external memory. There may be apps that can do this for you, but I've not seen any.

All I can suggest would be at the start of your holiday to move all the photos you already have into a new folder in the same location as the DCIM folder. After the holiday you can rename the DCIM folder (with you holiday photos in) to Holiday (or whatever you want), and rename the folder with all your other photos in back to DCIM.

Bit of hassle I admit, but it will get you what you want.
