***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Does anyone have any experience with AOKP roms? I ask because a friend of mine was banging on about it over the weekend and how tethering works vs Cyanogen 10's non working variant.

So I was a intrigued and gave it a go. It felt a bit 'too' similar in looks to Cyanogen in many areas. I was just wondering what some of the better features of that rom were.

No to recovery and yes to download. However after using Odin to reflash the official JB rom, all seem fine and Odin stats successful, when the phone tries to restart it just gets stuck in the reboot loop.

think i had a bootloop once after flashing with odin

try home button, volume up and power on to get into official recovery then do the formats and reboot

Nope still unable to get to recovery. It tries to load in to it but again the phone restarts again. Thinking something in the hardware has failed.

Can you get into safe mode, when the samsung logo pops up keep pressing the left touch button (the menu one) next to the home button. That should load up into safe mode. If not I guess its broken, or have you tried a different ROM via Odin.

If you flash the stock firmware and you can get into download mode then you will be able to get into stock recovery unless your volume up button is broken. What you need to do is hold down the home key + Volume up button and press power. Once the phone starts to boot release the power button but keep holding the other two buttons and you'll get into recovery to do a format of the device.

I read at the weekend the latest CM10 nightly now has wifi tethering, haven't tried it yet but I'd guess that is the last thing to making it a full release version, I can't see anything else missing.

well fancy that, right, wanamlite really has nothing for me now.

I've honestly tried that but all that happens is after the Samsung screen with the model number, the android with the spinning hexagon in its belly appears for a few seconds, then it restarts to the first Samsung screen again.

Ah interesting cheers. I am running the latest nightly atm and I think you're right. I just tried it out at work with my iPad and it detected the hotspot and could browse for a few moments before the phone lost reception (o2 figures :/).

I'll try again when I get home today.

Got my S3, need to set it up and stuffs! Orange didn't send me a Sim with a phone number on... So had to call them and sort it out. Apparently I should get a text soon with a new number. :)

You will like it! Guess you've got the LTE version?

Orange have completely screwed it up for me. Told me I was getting a new number when upgrading my phone. And I have the option to use my old number if wanted when calling up the activation phone line. Called them to activate the Sim and not use my old number, they said I have to use my old number, I told them no I would like a new number and they said that is fine, however ignored me completely and just transferred my old number to my new phone.

Then had the cheek to tell me to wait for 2 hours and I will get a text on my new phone with my new number. Called back and they said they cannot do it. So why the hell did the person selling me the new contract say I could have a new number when it was an upgrade, and the person 3 hours ago said I'd get a text with a new number. When I don't get a new number at all?

A supervisor is apparently going to call me around 5PM, I am not happy. They were telling me to go into an Orange store to get a new SIM so they can sort it... Do I really have to do this because of their lies and mistakes?

Sounds all too familiar unfortunately, having had 3 family members recently leave orange due to the lies being told throughout the last 12 months. If your having nuisance calls, they can change your number can they not? If so, why can't they change it now? Have you requested one of those 'Platinum' numbers or something?
