All I wanted was a new number with the phone, the person selling the contract said that would happen and I would have the option to use my old number if I wanted.

I call to activate the Sim as you do, and the person told me I have to use my old number, I told him no.

He told me to wait 2 hours for a text with my new number, even though he transferred my old number to my new phone. Now my old phone I was going to give to my mum with my old number has been deactivated...

So twice I was told I would get a new number, and now they are saying I can't... Sounds to me they just wanted the sale, but no idea why the person asked me to wait for a text which wasn't going to be sent in the first place.
 
'Tis very strange behaviour, but like I say, not surprising from orange in my experience. I would have thought they could transfer your old number back to your old sim (unless its been deactivated) and put a new number on your new sim... Maybe thats what they did, deactivate your old sim and transfer the number hence they are in a pickle with it now.
 
So my stock i9300 just had a notification that I could upgrade to 4.1.1, so I presume that was through kies? Anyway all done and it appears I have jelly bean! So what is really new about it anyways? Looks the same, though I guess that's cause it still has samsungs mark on it.

Have you checked out the Nexus 4?
 
I have no doubt that the Nexus 4 will be awesome - it's directly backed by Google, and with them fully incharge of the software it will be nice. The design is plush too.

You'll be pleased with either phone IMO.

No stock themes from Samsung.

Nova is the best AOSP looking/feature wise launcher at the moment - smoother than Apex - I have both.

That's true, and it looks like a very impressive phone, but there's always that doubt in my mind over LG products
 
Hey all, ive had this phone now for 4 months it is stock, no root and on JB and is an unbranded handset and tho I am happy with the phone in general, I have had 2 annoying problems intermittently. The 1st is that randomly I find out that I cant recieve calls or texts so I try to call and it says "not registered on network"

So I reset the phone and this cures it. I have only had this happen 4 times in the time of owning the phone but it is annoying as it shows signal and everything. The sim card does work as ovbiously in the 4 months ive made quite a lot of calls and texting.

Also I have to reset the phone every couple of weeks as I end up with the bluetooth not working on the phone and sometimes the network stops working both wireless and mobile data, so im guessing the radio's are crashing in the software and a reset cures them. Anyone else have these issues. Thanks.
 
Is there a way to combine my numbers dialled all within one contact
I.e mum mob called 5 times and not have each event showing as 5 instances, instead have it log 5 calls within 1 instance

Mine seems to be doing this already. Only thing I've changed is when in the log screen menu>view by>all calls.

DO NOT EVER BY A PHONE FROM ORANGE UNLESS IT'S PAY AS YOU GO

as pay as you go had zero problems. the moment i went on contract 2 years ago it's been crap. i only stayed with them as i presume by getting a great phone and the best deal they would be brilliant with me. in 2 years time i'm looking elsewhere. they are useless

At the mo I have something like this

I'm after something that will group each call instead of ha ing duplicates of the same person,
Just like the iPhone does it
 
Are the calls spread across multiple days or on the same day? Mine groups all methods of communication to each contact but splits the days. There doesn't appear to be a way to alter this in the stock samsung rom.
