Now you are on a custom rom you wont be able to update it via Kies or software update. If you went back to stock then you will.

When a new firmware comes out just simply copy it to ur external/internal card and install it from there. Take a few minutes to do and is easy.

so i won't need to use odin again to get the new firmware to to phone?

plus how will i know if a firmware upgrade is out?

You will still need odin or clockworkmod (cwm) to install new rom, and just keep an eye out on the website where you got the rom from. Im guessing it was either Omega or Wanamlite you installed, which case just keep up to date on the corresponding forum. If its Wanamlite then people on here will alert others to a new rom as most peeps on here have that :)

ok, just keep an eye on that site. New firmwares will always be first shown. And again keep an eye in here as well as others will report new firmwares being released.

also charging seems to be taking longer on jellybean

there are loads of great things about jellybean so far, but a few minor things that aren't as good as the orange branded icecream sandwich i did have

if orange do get around to releasing it to their customers how would i put the official one on my phone. would i have to wipe my phone clean of this jellybean and take it back to factory settings??????? by doing that would i lose all my apps and data?

Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong, but if Orange release their official rom then copy this to your sdcard and install with odin. Providing you dont wipe ur phone you will keep apps/settings.

thats half the problem. i'm patient and will happily wait for the official orange jellybean but they don't even announce when or even acknowledge it like the other networks have :(

they are just rude. they should at least acknowledge it

Imo I dont think you will gain much, if anything, if you install the orange rom when it comes out.

i know that. but i'd just prefer to have the official one for my handset is all so then when another jellybean update comes out in december (which apparently it will and hopefully by then orange will be quick off the mark lol) i can just update easily through keis

To be honest with you, if orange ever do get around to releasing jellybean it will be worse then the unbranded one you installed earlier. I don't think a single person would choose a network branded ROM over an unbranded one lol because the former will just have more bloatware on it, nothing more.

It is best to just keep your phone up to date yourself, via Odin. You are currently on the latest stock jellybean, just keep an eye on that link and whenever a newer one appears, update it yourself. Stick to Samsung official unbranded rooms. If you are feeling brave, root the phone, install titanium and remove all the additional stuff you will never need and you move abit closer to pure android. Please don't install an orange branded ROM though, thats just wrong lol.
