***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Temaseks CM10.1 build and his kernel is a good combination.

Any 4.2.2 Touchwiz builds have bad batter too by the looks of it, no kernel source so no custom kernels!

Wanam has a custom kernel for 4.2.2 he updated the Adam kernel a few weeks ago. Still only running the leak though not the official rom :(

Fair enough, last time I looked there was some heating issues with 4.2.2 as well.

Vertumus smashes his S4, so hopefully he'll concentrate on JB Domination for the S3 again :p

Yup got the MG4 OTA update this morning, seemingly nothing different from the previous one, i was all excited thinking it could have been 4.2.2 lol but nope looks like samsung have stopped 4.2 and going to 4.3 for novemeber :(

Ok so i have an S3 which is rooted and running a custom rom, Wanamlite but i want to install a stock rom onto the S3. Do i need to unroot the s3 and then install the stock rom or can i still install the stock rom even though im rooted.

Apologies as ive been away from the rooting/unrooting thing for some time.

Cheers found it:), one other question...i take it if i flash back to the stock samsung firmware i will lose all my data ie game saves etc?? If so how do i backup that data as i still want to have it on my s3 once ive flashed it back to stock??

If your on a custom rom its wise to wipe when you flash back to stock - I'm not sure, but flashing a stock rom via odin might wipe it anyway so you could have no choice. If it doesn't wipe it then you could try a flash over the top (dirty flash) and see how it goes.

Titanium backup - I swear by that app.

Edit - this only works if your rooted though. Otherwise Helium lets you backup most apps with data

Ok ive used it before but pretty sure you need to be rooted in order to use it?? and im un-rooting my S3 as i just bought one of those jawbone up bracelets and for some odd reason it doesnt seem to work with the S3 and doing some googling, it seems like rooted devices are causing an issue with the bracelet being able to synch with the S3.

EDIT: so i was right, ill have a look at helium and see if that will back up my data...if not then no big deal ill just have to start over on those games:p

Android now has an automatic backup and restore features (under backup and reset in settings)

Have that ticked and do a force system sync with cloud - then restore after new install. it may work.

Right unrooted and flashed back to stock, used helium to backup my data and once i booted back up, i restored and worked like a dream.

When are we expecting the official 4.2 update or is the s3 being passed over??

According to most sources, 4.2 is being scrapped in favour of a 4.3 release sometime in november/december time

Thanks, hopefully 4.3 wont be too far off.

Right now that i have my phone back to stock firmware, still rooted...im looking for a kernal which is similar to the siyah one ie with audio enhancements. Need to change the kernal as its giving me issues with my jawbone up app ie it wont synch my data from the bracelet. I had flashed it back to a stock kernal and it worked ie the synch but soon as i re-flashed siyah it stopped working so leads me to be believe that the siyah kernal is causing issues.

Anyone know of a decent kernal similar to siyah or am i stuck with siyah as its the only one that gives you the audio enhancements??

Cheers.

EDIT: Nevermind i found the perseus kernal from xda and is similar to the siyah kernal but doesnt give me any issues with my jawbone up and when i go to synch it. All is well :)
