In terms of sound quality through the headphones, is the S3 better than the original S1 (that was meant to be great with Voodoo iirc)?

That's with both on custom FW and PowerAmp.
 
I'd expect so, it's got a dedicted DAC, same used in the iPhone 4/4s. Whether you can tell the difference is questionable though.

I recently got some Sound Magic E10's and it's definitely the best sounding audio device I've used.
 
Teddy, I can download from dev-host at ~600kb/s. We don't have 4G but we do have H+ :)

On a side note, we also have HD voice in calls :)

As for sound, I think it's brilliant. Not having kernel sources yet, the quality isn't as sharp on 4.2.2 as it was in 4.1.2 with Boeffla kernel and audio tweaks but with viper and awesome beats both enabled on Nightmare ROM, I think it's perfectly acceptable :)
 
Couldn't get on with the look of Nightmare, didn't like the mishmash of white/aosp/touchwiz dotted throughout the rom.

Hoping JB Domination is released soon, I want 4.2 but not a CM build :p
 
Nightmare Rom looks ok and has lots of options when installing, but I was getting a fair bit of lag. I tried the original kernal but it was still there. Ill give it another go when its had another update or 2.

Back on crDroid 17.1 atm but will try the aosp version again over the weekend.
 
See my edit, nah it doesn't. Never record video anyway so it's not a problem for me, I can always use the aosp camera if I need to
 
My bro wants to flash a custom ROM onto his S3. What is the best ROM without touchwiz in your opinion?

I love ARHD on my HTC One but they don't seem to have an ASOP version.
