***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Yeah me too... didn't seem right mocking an injured person though... but seeing as everyone else was thinking the same (and I should've guessed you all would be lol), I guess it's ok to laugh - then ask her mum what she was smoking when she chose her name!

I need a tasker master. lol

I need to set my phone to select GSM network only, when at work. So Can it be done when it connects to works wifi. Then back to auto when I get out of range/disconnect.

Thanx in advance.

Was out in the sun all day yesterday - my S3 was in my pocket, turned off. Turned it on to take a photo and it booted up in safe mode.. presumably because it was so hot. Anyone seen this before?

It boots into safe mode when you hold down one of the keys as it boots. I can't remember which but restarting it fixes it.

Is that a custom rom? In that case it has randomly gone into safe mode once on twice for me. Never when stock unrooted! Not sure what triggers it tbh.

CM10.1.

I'd had a few beers, so I probably mashed the buttons when I turned it on :p

What rom is everyone on at the moment?

Thinking of jumping back to a Touchwiz rom, been on CM for quite a while now.

By the looks of it XXEMF6 is the latest firmware? Only Omega rom seems to be using it at the moment, what was before MF6? MD3?

I can't choose what to go for, there's so many random builds now. Annoying that Jellybean Domination theme has come to a halt too.

I'm on Paranoid Android atm. Build 3.60, and I love it. The halo overlay thing and ability to have tablet UI are really useful. Seems fairly stable too, A couple of random reboots but other than that it's brilliant

Yeah I was on Temaseks CM10.1 build that had Halo too. I like aosp, but I miss the Touchwiz camera and battery life!

Giving Neatrom a try at the moment.

I was using Sotmax Ultimate for ages (from v8 to v23) but a new one popped up on xda by the guy that makes the 'dream themes', orangerot. and that's called Nightmare... It's currently on v2.6 and it's brilliant - he's a really helpful dev too

It comes packed with Awesome Beats and Viper4Android so the music quality is really good too.

I've been tempted to drift back over to the CM10.1 camp too as I love the speed of AOSP, but like you said mate I'd miss the battery life and the sammy camera!

@ Benjo - Ive tried CM10.1 (the crDroid version) and although it looks nice the volume was too low even with the sliders up full. Reading the crDroid aosp thread you have to disable 'safe headset volume', doing this only made the sound distorted. Is this kernal related, ie, would changing to a different one make it louder? I was using the temsek one.

Gone back to crDroid 17.1 for the time being, everything works nicely but like others I just want a change :)

*edit* Just looked at that Nightmare ROM, it doesnt look too bad and its 4.2.2. How does it run Enigma???

Hmmmm, decisions, decisions!!

*edit #2* If I do a 'full clean up' before flashing - "Format /system, Format /cache, Format /data, Format /boot", will restoring a nandroid put these back as they were??

Thanks.

Yeah battery life wasn't great on Aosp. I've just flashed UltimaRom, based on XXEMD3 4.1.2. I think it's one of the most recent non 4.2.2 builds.

Everything seems good so far, it just took a while to set up due to the toggles bug that's mentioned.

@ Cyclone. Temasek kernel supports Boeffla sound, so you just need the sound control app. I found the settings don't take effect until after a reboot though.

In response to your full wipe/nandroid question, everything should restore as normal :) You should check out Philz recovery, it puts an option in the 'full wipe' menu specific to whether you're changing roms. I've been using that between flashing roms and haven't had any problems.

Thanks Benjo. Updating philz then ill do a full wipe as you mentioned and then try the Nightmare rom. If im not happy ill try crDroid again with the sound control app. Then if Im still not happy then back to 4.1.2 I go :)

Cheers m8!!

Nightmare runs smooth as silk mate, great battery life too, from 5.30am to ~11.30pm I'm going to bed on about 10% with pretty heavy use over a day

I'm going give Nightmare a try now too. I've got Ultima set up how I like it, just going to make a nandroid :)

Also, has anyone experimented with different modems much? I'm using the leaked ME7 one at the moment..
