***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Well still running Temasek CM rom V59, not too impressed with battery life, seems to be running down faster? Think I might go back to plain CM, battery life seemed better and too many customisations on Temasek which is nice but not for me.

V61 out ?? :) this is getting serious, soo many updates. Ok kernels, what is the difference with these ? Also installing a new kernel, is it easy enough ?

Best Kernel for the s3 is Boeffla you can modify everything and I mean everything! some things will break your phone whilst others like the sound amplifier will improve functionality. Boeffla Kernel has its own app to adjust the settings and its very simple to understand what you can and cannot mess with without breaking something. For Temasek's ROM you need the OMNIROM version of the Boeffla kernel.

That said, even if you do break it your phone is only soft bricked and a wipe and reflash from recovery and you laughing!

Flashing a Kernel is no different to flashing a ROM, boot into recovery and flash reboot and your away.

Will soon be getting one of these as I wanted a change from my iPhone 4 (had an android phone before)

So what's the best rom? Been a while since I flashed a rom so a link would be grand too :-).

Thank you,

J

Temasek as the last 10 pages of this thread have been discussing :)

But not great for camera use, but I read recently it's actually samsungs fault as they didn't release the proper 'drivers' for their camera? *this might be bullpoo?

Philz recovery ant Temasek ROM and your laughing! The camera issue is only small can normally get 3 or 4 shots off before it crashes.

The driver issue is because Samsung own the rites to the driver and won't release the code. CM11 code is getting there slowly!

yep as a ROM newbie, been flashing like crazy, tried Omnirom but not too impressed although it felt snappier. Back on Temasek for now, it works although I might need to bring up the subject of Kernels :) It would appear that tweaking the kernel a tad can extend battery life a lot.

I found Boeffla to be really good. I've lowered the max clock to 1200mhz, undervolted by 50mv, allowed it turn off cores when not in use, and using the pegasusq moderate governor.

Battery life is decent :)

This! Boeffla is the best s3 kernel by far.
