***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Another problem :o My status bar keeps disappearing, driving my crazy because I can't find anything to make it stop. Any ideas? Using V50

I did a full wipe when moving to v54 as its a huge change from v50, some say a step backwards but the ROM is much smoother for me and no FC to date.

Philz touch recovery has been updated as well.

Also I've just started using slimGaaps instead of Banks's Gaaps found them more reliable getting gmail to sync properly. I then remove (using root uninstaller) Play Music and hangouts as I don't like either and have better apps to replace them.

I updated from v50 to v51 beta a few days ago and since then my calendar can't sync with the google servers, when I try to sign into it it just tells me it's unable to connect

Is this a problem faced by anyone else, or just by me? It's driving me bonkers!

I've full wiped (philz, "clean to install new rom" type wipe) but still when I flash a rom - tried v50 again as it was working then but still no joy and wiped again when I updated to v55, I still have no calendar

When I go into the google account options it doesn't even show the calendar as a sync option so I can't manually sync it either

any suggestions greatly welcome :)

thanks in advance

Calendar comes with the Gapps package, so try flashing a different one? Or try and install the calendar from the play store.

If your using Banks Gaaps then you need to flash the AOSP calendar fix for it to work.

I've found that slimGaaps is a much more robust package gmail sync is much better for me not sure why.

Got sick of the stock ROM jelly Bean 4.3 bugs, so thought I would give Cyanogenmod a wee go, seemed the less daunting. Anyway after a wee scare as it didn`t go quite to plan all is well and no more WiFi issues and battery seems to be holding up that bit longer. Phone has had a new lease of life, seems to be a lot more responsive and little lag.

CM11 is nearly bug free, the camera still has issues but they are working on that. I run CM nightlys on my Tab2 but running Temasek ROM on my phone as it urinates all over basic CM!

I'm running CM10.1.3 stable on my two little boys Nook HDs and the whole CM experience is just perfect on a tablet! :)
[highly recommended tablet for those on a tight budget by the way, amazing screen resolution and brilliant performance - even for gaming (Real Racing 3/Asphalt 8 for example run absolutely flawlessly!) I made the mistake of getting the 4GB versions though and they do fill up REALLY fast lol]

Anyway, I digress - I do have to give a big fat +1 for Temasek CM11 on both mine and my partners S3s!

For those that don't know, Temasek's ROM is a whole lot more than the basic CM11 - it incorporates all the good bits from ROM's such as CrDroid, SlimROM, NeatROM, CM itself obviously, AOKP etc and pulls the best features all into one place so it's WAY more feature rich and customizable than standard CM11 (which isn't exactly limiting all the same!)

Now, Temasek's XDA thread has been closed at his request (too many users bombarding him with useless bug reports without providing anything for him to work with... been an ongoing problem and he's just had enough of it) but he is still working on his ROM and updating frequently so add him on Twitter (@Temasek71) to keep up with updates directly or just keep an eye on his hopto.org folder here

We're currently on v57 but it is a little lacking in features when compared to v50 as CM changed the way they implement some features (mainly multi-sim support) which caused some problems with the way he had ported some features - we're getting them all back slowly and it is well worth the wait as v52 onwards have been super smooth - the latest version v57 has the most recent CM merge of Android 4.4.2_r2 KVT49L which (to me at least) feels a lot more responsive than previous versions.

For those of you thinking of trying CM11 out, go give Temasek's version a bash, it's well worth a try! :)

(sorry for the wall of text!)

Only thing missing is halo not something I've used personally.

I would recommend the latest update (v58) is well worth is, so smooth!

Everything working as it should MrGrumpy? Usually sometimes like video recording/camera, calling doesn't work.

no big issues that I`ve noticed, camera doesn`t seem as sharp which I assume could be a driver issue ? However the phone is now smooth and quick with little lag. It has actually given it a new lease of life in my book. The recent software updates officially have been dire to say the least. However now tempted by the Temaseks ROM ?? Feeling brave :)
