**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S10 Family Thread ****

I'm impressed by it. My iPhone 7 would usually last around 7 hrs then need charged my s10+ would last around 2 days if I let it go right down. Usually sitting at around 60% at bed time from 100.

I think it might improve once the routine optimisation stuff kicks in? Will keep eye on it. Am using the Always on Display and the app to enable to front camera light to perform led notifications. Guess these are big battery hits? Although they are both set to turn off after a few secs.

What's the best video setting generally? 1080p 30ps? Is HDR10 worth enabling? Does it look weird on standard displays/monitors?

HDR10 isn't worth enabling. You can't share HDR10 videos without downscaling it to normal format first, also you're limited to other features available if shooting HDR10 video as well. It will look washed out when playing HDR10 video on non HDR10 compatible displays.

I use 60fps 4K for video recording. Quality and smoothness is sublime. If I need the super steady stabilisation I just tab the button in video mode and you can then use supersteady with either lens and it switches to 1080p 30fps. When you tap super steady to turn it off, goes back to 4k 60fps.

I shot this photo today on the walk home from work and was really impressed. Edited in Snapseed and Google Photos.

I haven't checked that app that enables selfie camera LED for notifications in some time, but last I did, it stated that it was a pretty big battery drain in at the time current state.

Why would you need the led notification thing at all? I can see a point if there was no AOD or you preferred it over the AOD but surely on their own the AOD is much better? I have to say the only time I missed led notifications was when I had my OnePlus 6t, which lacks an AOD.

Yeah just used to those LED lights that's all (had my S7 for 3 years). I will try to move away from it.

Battery life seems far better today. Still at 50% since 9am with mild usage.

Here's what the OneUI 2 beta brings, beta coming mid October. I expect the official release is late November or before the new year at least anyway.

I won't be trying the beta even though Korean devices get it first. It isn't safetynet compliant since it's a beta so Google Pay won't work and I use that...

Yes. Pixel betas are safetynet compliant, it's a Google phone running Google software. Google won't certify a beta from another OEM. It was exactly the same last year with Android 9.

Battery seems a lot better today on the S10 after I set a couple of offending apps to sleep when not in use. Currently on 50% since 9am this morning. That is fine for me.

Think it will do as as voda firmware seems to be required for 4g calling. I flashed voda firmware on my s9+ so that I could use 4g calling. Not much branding really. Your s10 from Vodafone will probably be locked to them.

my HK note10+ supports WiFi and 4g calling (on HK firmware), them days of using provider firmware are gone for Samsung phones :)
