**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S10 Family Thread ****

Yeah my S7 Edge battery was trash after 2 years, was replaced under insurance and phone is still surprisingly usable. Gave it to my dad so overkill for what he needs out of a phone anyway.

Does anyone know of any app that performs a similar job to the Lock Screen Dynamic Wallpaper feature in the new Samsungs? I tried the APk but it just crashes on my 7T Pro. I know there is a feature on the OP to change wallpaper each day but I really like how my S10e changes every time I wake the phone.

I think we will see Android 10 officially release before Christmas at this rate considering we had the November update on unlocked phones on November 1st which is typically unheard of for Samsung. They even did a 2nd October update 2 weeks before that.

Anyway the 10e battery hasn't shifted at all since March, still great:

I'm only getting 3-4 hours SoT on my Exynos s10e, it's just about OK for a days usage for me now so it's not the end of the world but I expected better.

3-4 hours is very good considering the battery size and also the number will vary based on what you've been doing and connected to what network. WiFi all the time will mean your SoT is higher if you're browsing the web or streaming content.

SoT should not be compared against anyone else's as this is something that is individual to each person. For me I'm getting better battery life from the S10e than I was with the S8+ which has a bigger battery with bigger screen.

I'm still consistently getting 3 hours before I hit 15%, that simply not good enough and noticeably worse than my S7 Edge. There is clearly a design flaw of some kind, as plenty are getting 5 hours plus. Clear it isn't getting fixed at this point either now for select few of us having this issue.

Fact that it's only draining this badly on mobile data and not WiFi means it's probably Exynos related.

My Sony Xperia 1 would easily break 5 hours with a battery not much bigger and considerably larger screen with 4k resolution.

S11 leaks are under way. XDA have uncovered some camera news too which looks set to put the S11 above all other phone cams out of the box. Frankly I'm hyped for this.

Director’s View
will let you lock onto a subject in view and also “select who’s in the close up.” Along with that, it lets you “Tap the thumbnails on the left to switch between camera lenses. Tap the ones on the right to jump o a close-up on a subject.” This sounds like Samsung will allow you to record from multiple camera lenses at the same time.

Night Hyperlapse
Timelapse at night

Single Take Photo
This mode will let you “Start shooting to capture the scene in a series of pictures and short videos.” You will pan your phone around for 15 seconds, slowly, and it will capture a bunch of pictures and videos of the scene. As you go through, it will tell you to slow down when needed or “Oh, you’re doing great!” The mode will also show popups saying things like “Artist at work…” and “This is some of my best work…” After the phone processes all the photos and videos, you will be able to see a collection of what it just took.

Custom filters
Sounds to me like this will allow for custom exposure settings you can re-visit when in a similar scene in the future like how DSLRs have the option to save custom mode settings for any given scene.

So is camera tech going to be the forerunner in the 2020 Smartphone arms race? If so then for once I'm happy to take a back seat (although we'll see come the time :D).
I see little else by way of physical improvement (from any manufacturer) going by the leaks.

Yeah, as cool as the new camera will be for some, I'm just happy with good stock camera general performance, which is what the S10 gives. If that's the main area that's changing with the S11, I definitely won't be upgrading early.

Let's face it, with social media so populated with photo and video works, camera tech is a hot thing right now.

Aside form that, S11 is rumoured to have a new rapid charging battery tech too along with much bigger battery. 3900ish mAh for the smallest S11 and 30-45 minute charge time I heard.

Is it just me, or is the screen coating on the S10 extremely susceptible to scratches and marks? Got a S10 that's barely a month old, and while cleaning up after some DIY on Friday used the plastic vacuum cleaner crevice tool nozzle to get dust off the screen of my S10 (normal, not S10e). Looking at the screen afterwards, I now have three light scratches across the screen where I used the nozzle on the screen and the tip must have touched the screen.

Now, it's liveable - certainly not enough to warrant getting a claim on insurance - but it is disappointing. My S8 was certainly not this fragile. Is it that I've just damaged the factory-fit screen protector?

Screen or screen protector? The S10's screen protector is naturally more prone to scratching vs the actual screen itself which is Gorilla Glass.

I agree. I have always taken good care of my devices i.e. no shared pocket space with keys or loose change among other things. However my S10e has so many light scratches and swirls on the screen it's incredible. In fairness they're only noticeable when it's off but it's still pretty bad.

No additional screen protector, just the one that I believe comes fitted to the S10 and S10+ (not the S10e)

Yes that's it then. The one that comes installed is just a standard screen protector. It will be prone to scratching like all of them of this type. DO you need a screen protector? That's up to you. I instantly take them off and throw them in the bin as they are useless.

I have actually managed to get 2 light scratches on my S10e since getting it, serves me right for not replace the protector (which did scratch easy).

I have somehow ended up with small chips on one of the phone corners despite having a case on since day one. Guess some grit got under and rubbed against the paint. One of the downsides of doing odd work in construction.

I’m considering an S10 upgrade over my S7 but I have that nagging feeling that my S7 has been faultless and is still going strong and it’s an upgrade for the sake of it. £22.50pm with Sky, two year contract, 30 month credit agreement if I use 50GB of piggy bank data.

I went from an S7 to an S10e and it's been a great decision. Battery is much better, phone is snappier and the camera is fantastic, find myself taking a lot more photos because it's so easy to get a good picture.

I'd go for it

We're only six months out from gen 11, though. If the S7 is working fine then there'll be a further price drop once that is announced and released.
