**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S22 Family Thread ****

Had that the other day, early days, but a few minutes after install the phone locked up and the screen froze, tried to get the power menu up to reboot the phone but nothing was responding. The phone did eventually restart itself, and has been ok since. Fingers crossed.

To be on the safe side of things, as I've had the phone from release day, I went into recovery mode and wiped the cache. So hopefully it was only a blip.

Had no problems yet , I always turn auto update off amd only check once a week.

How's people's battery life like on S22U? I got one last week and so far, battery is pretty abysmal compared to other phones I've had new to be honest. I've got it on 1440p with adaptive frame rate but surely that can't kill the battery so much...?

It lasts barely 24h with about 5-6h screen on time, mostly just using Edge, Discord or WhatsApp. I'm using Always On screen but again - previous phones never suffered this badly. It's one of my two gripes so far - this and the fact that photos with any red in and the red gets blasted at you.

The only problem I seem to have (and it's been an on going thing for a while) is forums like this one, viewed using Samsung internet browser, and using the Samsung keyboard to reply. The cursor that dictates where the words are typed starts jumping back and forth and then adds multiple empty lines which makes it unusable when trying to type a reply of any semblance.

Using a different keyboard fixes this. Because the latest Samsung keyboard update didn't fix the issue.
I got so frustrated at this earlier that I've had to use my old 5T for OCUK! I thought it was something weird with the site or something... It does this for me using Edge and the Samsung keyboard. Maybe I'll try another keyboard...

Have you checked under battery stats to see if anything is draining I get 2-3 days but no AOD on . Have you got "Good guardians" installed ? battery tracker within the app will give a detailed set of stats .

I've got accubattery going which has data reset, but the last few charges have shown only about 4500 charged from 5-100% which doesn't seem like much, but I think it'll get more accurate over a longer period?

In terms of draining, I'll double check the phone battery stats but from memory it didn't seem like anything was causing drastic drain other than just general web browsing, Discord, WhatsApp etc. Worth installing Good Guardians to check instead?

I could disable the AOD but I like it... Maybe I'll change it to requiring a tap instead of 7:00-22:00.

Edited to add my usage report for yesterday: wwAy2mx.jpeg

Some good apps with in Good Guardians so worth an install

Maybe I'll try another keyboard

I keep having a go at using the Samsung keyboard, as I really want to like it, but it's just poo compared to others. I can't even find a way to add custom words or even edit my dictionary.

I'm using an old keyboard that started the whole swipe to type idea. Obviously called Swype keyboard ;) And even though it's not been supported in years, it's still streets ahead in many ways.

I've just installed GBoard which is what my old oneplus used. My is it ugly, and is just gotten used to the buttons on the Samsung keyboard... But I was able to type this message without the weird new line bug!

Yeah I've just installed it, seems to give more detailed insights on battery usage at least...

I've disabled the always on display so I'll see how it goes. I'm going to miss it though :( hope Samsung fix its battery drain

Has anyone else's charging port stopped working properly? Started a couple of months ago with only certain cables charging the phone, and now it refuses to charge most of the time, unless using the original Samsung cable, and only one end, one way round and in a certain position works....

More thank likely needs a new port , have you check for fluff etc . You can book a doorstep repair for that fault tho you have to jump thru some hoops

Well I've moved away from my S22u this weekend, have had numerous signal issues (O2) and due to the fact I work a lot on new and start up sites wifi is more often than not unavailable so reliant upon the mobile network.

A couple of weeks ago I was sat next to a guy at work who was on the same network as me but on a Pixel 7 Pro, I was on 'H' and could barely load BBC news and he had 1 bar of 5G. We swapped sims as a test and got exactly the same result. Not sure if its O2 related or not but I did raise a support ticket a couple of months ago on the signal issues and O2 reported back they have no problems after a couple of weeks.

So I can only presume the issue could be related to the Exynos SoC and its related modem integration because I'm now sat with a Pixel 7 Pro at the same desk with 5G coverage which I've never ever seen before. I'll miss versatility of the camera, the s-pen and how it seemlessly integrated with my S8 Ultra tablet but being able to use my phone as a work tool is far more important. If the rumours are true they are dropping Exynos on the S23 that can only be a good thing.

5G coverage is a bit patchy here, I can get a 5G signal (only just 1 bar) out in the conservatory at home, but the speed is only 45megs. If I switch to exclude 5G in the mobile settings, I get 4G+ and that tests at around 80megs. Most of the time I leave 5G disabled and run on the much more reliable 4G network that is plenty fast enough and is more reliably connected.
