**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S22 Family Thread ****

Do you guys think that the Exynos variant that we get in Europe will have any significant downsides in particular regard to photography features (processing and stuff)? When I read through the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 improvements over the 888 they throw around such stuff as improved night mode, portrait shots, bokeh effect and so on... while the Exynos 2200 only has a meager list of features in the ISP department... I am really on the fence as of now if I should invest that kind of money (1350€ for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage option) if in the end my photos are that much worse than what I could have gotten with a SD 8 Gen 1 chip... I know it sounds dumb because I don't have a choice of which SoC i can get but this massively bugs me for the last few days and I was so hyped about the S22 Ultra until I came across those particular ISP differences in the marketing of the 2 different chips.

EDIT: And btw, does anyone know when the embargo for reviews on the S22 Ultra is lifted?

I'm just thinking of placing a preorder in Europe, just to be sure and get the preorder benefits (should EX prove decent enough) and then depending on reviews, buy SD version over in US in the next 2 weeks or so.
It'll still be 50 cheaper than buying Exynos, but I'd have to sell current phone privately instead of hassle free trade-in.
Also wouldn't mind having warranty on 1200+ phone...

Give it a few days and let the comparison reviews speak for themselves

This is the problem with buying phones outside of your country, the warranty process and also the length of warranty are not as good and for the price of the phone it's a risk you must decide for yourself.

Go on YouTube.

Tom the tecchap and supersaf both have reviews up with Exynos. I reall trust those guys as they always do good detailed reviews.

Consensus is photography and video is improved over the s21 ultra which was always pretty good, typically still.lags behind the iPhone on video but typically better at photography.

Battery life is meant to be worse then the s21 ultra, not significantly though.

Yes, I've posted half these videos on this very thread.

I'm talking comparisons of E2200 vs 8G1 which should be out soon.

I went through Topcashback but I'm fully expecting them to decline the cashback due to using the 10% off code, it'll be a nice bonus if they don't.

just placed preorder for S22U 256GB Black. Selected to pay at store, so no loss if decide to get SD version later on, if EX proves that much worse in battery and camera department.

When you place the order with samsung you can share the post after wards and that gives you and who ever uses the link 10% off I wish I was more on the ball as I bought a 1Tb and an extra 10% would be nice. I'd put a link up but think referrals are against forum rules.

cancelled my in-store order at samsung Westfield as they expect you to wait around for the trade-in transfer process which I don't want to do. I am going to just order online. Should have done that first :(

I cancelled my initial order of a 256GB and re-placed a 512GB with a 10% code I got off eBay as well for £6 - the code came literally less than 10 minutes after I paid. Do a search on eBay for "samsung discount" and you can see the listing at £5.99 by a seller called fernpa70. I forgot Quidco the first time as well so managed to get that back plus I also used the wrong e-mail so didn't get awarded any Samsung points - all in all was well worth cancelling as got a more expensive device for less money plus all the reward points as well.

Looks like quite a few are opting for the S22 Ultra and whilst it has great specs, is it not a bit on the large side?

I've an S10 at the moment and looking to change to an S22 (possibly the Plus) or Pixel 6 Pro soon, but the standard S22 is a bit underwhelming (battery size) and the Ultra looks bulky and heavy - not great for slipping in a pocket.
