**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S22 Family Thread ****

Loving mine, no issues with performance, it's remained super fast at everything. The screen is just stunning. Bluetooth works on everything I've connected to the phone. Call quality has been fine, signal strength and Internet has been spot on. I've had one occasion where the GPS didn't locate, but a quick toggle sorted that, and it's been faultless ever since, in daily use.

Battery life is plenty good enough, although I've not really done a proper test down from 100% to zero. That might be scary as I'm a heavy user :D
The super fast charging v1.0 is also plenty quick enough for my needs when I need a battery boost.

The camera is really good, I just need to gen up on how to use it best. I've taken a few pictures around the garden, and the the normal 3:4 (not 108mp) seems to do a better job at everything while also giving the multiple lens options, and scene optimiser.

The only thing I am getting slightly tired of this TPU screen protector, I really do prefer the slick glass feel, so I've ordered a full glue glass screen protector kit. Will see how that goes :)

Oh and I've got my favourite font installed, which goes nicely with the square design of the phone, so happy days

Ah good to hear, will look out for your post feedback on the glass screen protector too, if you could tag me in that post just incase I miss it that would be great!

I will be in London tomorrow so will be walking around doing street photography with nothing but the phone and will make use of Expert RAW where possible as well as portrait mode of strangers etc, weather is set to be really nice so cannot wait.

Only suffering from the GPS problem here. Waiting for a firmware fix. Not a huge issue for me because I'm not needing it every day. But if it continues without a fix I'll try returning for a replacement. .

Hmm I have read about people getting a GPS issue, but have not experienced this myself at all. How weird considering they're all Exynos too.

Yep all good here - none of the launch bugs although having a Graphite meant I skipped the first two firmware releases which were probably bugged. Tauri screen protector seems a lot better after 24hrs for me - the Samsung screen protector pre-fitted to the S10 was slightly better but it's not far off on the S22!

Yup I have no issue with how the tauri one works, it's just the edges of all non glass screen protectors I don't like as my finger moves over them! I quite like the almost gel-like surface as well I gotta say.

That is good news. I have got three friends with the s22 ultra. 2 of them have been problem-free one on the other hand has had every single documented problem and at one point was going to launch it out of the window. Until he realized how much the phone was actually costing him.

It is really weird how seemingly the exact same phone with the same updates etc has issues. I can only imagine it's abad batch or something that Samsung then later identify and fix with an update?

I have always used a screen protector on my phones until my last phone (Note 20 Ultra) which I ripped off after I caught the corner and it lifted.
Careful examination of the screen around 20 months later is showing a few nasty looking scratches on the curved edge, no idea how they got there either, so the S22 Ultra is definitely having a protector on even though I love using the bare screen.

The S20 5G I had no screen protector on and took off the stock one on day 1 really. At the end of 2 years the screen had only minor micro scratches that you usually expect anyway but otherwise was in perfect order it has to be said!

Btw is there a link you can check your free buds pro status? I had the email saying they were on the way but that was ages ago and nothing has turned up yet...

Ah nice cheers,

I received the Galaxy Buds Live with my Note 20 Ultra, I'm not really one for ear buds but the Buds live didn't actually go right inside your ears and to me the sound was perfectly acceptable even though I'm no audiophile. The Buds Pro however fit further into the ear so that could be an interesting experience, for me at least.
From looking at reviews the Buds Pro are better equipped than the Buds live but I'll probably keep both to be honest.

I'm no audiophile either. I've picked up a few sets of nice cheap (£10-20) ear buds on Amazon over the past year whilst they've been on offer so I have a few sets lying around the house. The sound quality is more than adequate for me tbh, I'd rather keep those and not have to worry about losing them etc and just sell these on but I've just checked and there's a lot of these up for sale atm...

Yeah when the pre order deals come out then the market gets flooded with them and prices lower.

Seems my handset has the GPS bug. Thought I'd try it earlier, indoors near a window, not a single satellite picked up. Toggling location didn't fix for me. Restarted the phone, working fine.

Anyone else use gesture navigation here? I find I am triggering Samsung Pay more often than I'd like when swiping up to switch tasks. I've tried disabling the gesture for Samsung Pay in its settings, but all that seems to do is cause a big delay before the task switcher appears.

Only niggles I can complain about so far!

I use gesture nav. I only have Samsung Pay set on the lockscreen though as it is really pointless having it enabled for any other screen. The times I am out buying something, I'm not actively using my phone anyway so the first thing I see is the lock screen - Hence a natural place to access Samsung Pay. You can change these options within Samsung Pay.

Edit* Should add that I use gesture navigation the Samsung way, not the Google way. As in have back/home/task switch gestures, not the Pixel style single gesture.

Hmm, I might try them the Samsung way. Oddly enough the Samsung way sounds more like how I used to use gestures on phones back in the day before they were baked in, including hiding the nav bar with adb!

I switched my launcher back to Samsung and found that there is no longer lag when bringing up the task switcher with Google gestures. Do you hide the 'hints'?

Which launcher are you using? I'll give Samsung gestures a go, though! :)

Nova Launcher here

I've tried the Google gestures way many times but it's just too annoyingly limiting. Samsung way works perfectly and because I also have left and right edge gestures via One Handed Operation+ do do various things, it just all works seamlessly together.

And because it's Nova Launcher, that too has its own gestures. I have the home button (which is a gesture) to load Google Assistant from any screen.

I also use the more traditional Samsung gestures. If I'm understanding you both. Nothing is shown at the bottom of the screen, just swiping up from either left, middle, right does the job. I've tried the other gesture method but it just frustrated me all the time as I couldn't get the swipe quite right every time.
I don't use Samsung pay, so that feature isn't an issue :D

Tell us about all your gestures please! :D

Same here, use the Samsung integrated gestures no issues. I always get the Samsung pay integrated into the home screen on a new phone and it gets disabled soon after
