**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S23 Family Thread ****

Just checked, unfortunately not. Works will all other apps

What's the reasoning you guys using Samsung Internet over others? Something I'm missing?

Ad blocker being the main but also the UI / customisation is better than Chrome.

I use Samsung Pass, as well as Samsung Internet. A quick Google comes back saying its also avaliable for Windows, but I've never tried it.

Chrome on Windows stores all my passwords, and those then get transferred into Samsung browser (from Chrome android) in a very clunky cut n paste fashion as and when I need to, which eventually will end up being complete as time goes on.

Not looked for a faster transfer/export, from chrome to Samsung, but it's not an issue really.

I installed it but the app just says my computer isn't supported even though I have Windows Hello and TPM 2.0. Same for my Lenovo laptop so I think the app is borked.

I want to avoid having my passwords in 2 seperate places as like you I use Chrome on my Windows desktop.

Finally received the S23 Ultra in Graphite really impressed with the build quality coming from a S21 Ultra. the phone just glides through everything and only my second cycle of the battery and I have at least 40% more battery at this time of the day then I normally do. Overall impressed.

finally gonna pick up my S23U, just need a final decision on screen protector.
Samsung's (EF-US918CTEGWW) are 20 for pack of 2, while Spigen Neo Flex 2 pack is for 15.
Reviews of both are equally trash...so...what to do?
I put the Whitestone Dome on mine, perfect job first time, same as my old S21U.

TAURI 2+2 Pack Screen Protector Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G, 2 Pack

Is what I have and it's currently on offer for around £9. Installed perfectly in about 1 minute, definitely recommended.

Left 5G on last night and thought I'd see where o2 picks up 5G as can't get it in my home town and I was at work in office today (Portsmouth naval base area) - Lo and behold got 5G soon as I got to the ferry to get over to Portsmouth and all across the waterside.

But what about speeds? 15-45Mbps

Great

4G+ is 2-3Mbps

Glad I'm going back to EE this week.

Anyways Battery life by the time I got home was super. On the S22 Ultra I'd be on 4G+ the whole time when at work and as such the battery would drop to 20% or so by the time I got home if I used the phone throughout the day, but with a screen on time of around 3 hours.

But now:

So not only is the 5G radio more efficient on Snapdragon, but general battery life is excellent too, and the above was in normal power profile too as I forgot I took is ff Light yesterday to test something.

Im trying to remove some of the bloat on my phone by removing some duplicate apps, Samsung has a lot of similar apps like Samsung wallet, bixby, etc
What do you use samsung wallet or google wallet, bixby or google and why ? wh

im also trying to update phone with some good new apps ive never used before any suggestions for daily apps I should try out

Has anyone used goodlock ?
Eject is an ancient feature that no longer applies to Windows and as such is not something that you need to do for any USB storage media inc phones etc using MTP.

That's my homescree! All my apps and things are via folders or homescreen gestures or secondary swipes on those main icons.

My app drawer is a swipe up away:

Do you keep the settings at default 12mp or 50mp ?

Do most of you run Google Photos along side Gallery?

In all honesty I near enough use Google photos exclusively, just for ease of access, as that's where they are instantly backed up to my Drive storage.

But I still transfer all my photos and videos from one phone to the next, organised into albums by years etc for instant access without the need for cloud access, and that is done with the Samsung Gallery app. It's obviously where the latest camera shots are also seen. And if I want to play about with any editing, which isn't that often.

Back when Samsung did their own cloud storage it was a different story, but that ended and although they offered a migration to One drive, I kept with Google photos, and upped my subscription.

I use Simple Gallery Pro as it has features none of the others have and I like the way I can manually group, sort and organise my custom folders like I do in Windows File Explorer. Samsung's gallery app now though uses AI to detect and group items in photos, it is very clever and searching for objects, locations and landmarks is very cool using it, so I use that too when looking for specific things.

Still have Google Photos installed though as there are times when it comes in handy for some stuff.

I use Samsung Pay+ so prefer Samsung Wallet, still have Google Wallet though as some shopping sites etc use it on both web and mobile so it's easy to just one click pay without having to enter card details.

Bixby is quite useful, I never actually use Bixby itself, but the Bixby Routines are like Apple's Automations where you can set up routines that do stuff when X Y Z are met, like when in my car and connected to the Android Auto box via BT, I have a routine that enabled wifi hotspot so the car stereo can get internet etc, and when placed on the wireless charging pad, always on display is enabled, and turned off when not on the pad.

Goodlock has been around many years and every Samsung user should have it installed there is a module in there that suits everyone and allows more customisation.

I am using Nova Launcher. Samsung and other stock launchers never give me the full scope of tweaking I like, so Nova Prime is what I use and have done for 10 years or so now. Homescreen gestures, full control of folders, Nova Actions to get to other stuff etc etc.

One Handed Operations+ is also another really useful Goodlock module that gives edge screen gestures for navigation and doing multiple things.

50MP only in Expert RAW if/when desired, otherwise 12MP for everything as you get the widest dynamic range and cleanest overall image as HDR works at its best then thanks to the 16 into 1 pixel binning from the main sensor. Sometimes auto mode but manually tap and control the exposure slider, other times Expert RAW in 12 or 50MP with Auto HDR enabled, other photo features like scene optimiser and auto lens switching disabled.

I use both but I've run out of space of Google drive so mostly use Gallery as it integrates with my Office 365 storage (1TB). I can't be done with paying multiple storage subscriptions.

Thanks, I've never used Samsung before, I mainly used google because I can use it online as well like apple pay, I was just wonder if Samsung has any benefits to use both or stick with google other than quick launch, again ive not used Bixby since it first came out has it improved to the point of replacing google yet ?

ill take a look at Nova Launcher and see if I can make use of it.

Any other suggestions?

Was going to but I find it annoying that Google cant differentiate screenshots from the gallery so uploads them as part of the camera folder.

Using One Drive as a backup for camera folder now

First stellar example of the battery (I always have bad luck with batteries/SoT). Woke up this morning with around 30% left from the day before and it was on around 3 hours SoT when it got to 50% yesterday.

Should get my new sim soon which I think might help as well.

Bixby is never used, it's Bixby routines which is used. Google will always be the assistant/search I use not Bixby, you can basically ignore Bixby and just use the routines part of it without ever seeing "Bixby" itself.

Don't know what else to suggest, what do you do with your phone, what is your use case scenario on a daily basis, it is impossible to suggest stuff because of the personalised nature of phones for each person.
